your 5 "Go To" disks - which artist??

I circulate a lot of MP3s and disks, but I always have my 5 Go To artists in each car.

1. Radiohead - If I could listen to only one disc for the rest of my life it would be 'The Bends"



2. Kings of Leon - just plain old kick a$$ rock and roll.



3. Spoon - Smart and unique. Just a good time.



4. White Stripes



5. Viva Voce - kinda Mommas and Poppas surf sound.

You underestimate me my friend. Even though your picks aren't in my 5 Go Tos, they are in my collection and played often.

-I love Abbey Road and even visited the "zebra crossing" in London.

-Sticky Fingers is one of my all time favorite albums but there are too many great Stones songs to list just one. If I had to pick it would be "Monkey Man".

-Okay - not a Chuck Berry fan since I saw the interview where he admitted he didn't even really like the music and just did it for the $$.

- Apparently I know a little more about your top 5 than you. White Rabbit was from Surrealistic Pillow. Yes - I am old enough to remember playing it on vinyl when it was released. I agree -fantastic.

-If by "smashed the racial barrier" you mean ripped black music off w/o paying royalties or giving due credit, I agree. Yeah, he was cool, and he is the King, but he didn't do black musicians any favors. Favorite Elvis tune - Burnin Love.

I have "surrilalstic pillow" on vinyl...bought back in the day...now, if you're so into Jefferson Airplane??? Name the singer who Gracie replaced.../.damn...talk about bad career moves...BTW, I also have, on vinyl.."Jefferson Airplane takes off" The cover art is fantastic. The cuts?
Not so much so...

(edit) My old P-car had no capability for turntables...nor discs or tapes. It only had an AM/FM radio that didn't really work all that well. But when I was driving? The radio was usually off. I didn't need tunes. The car made the music..

1......rise against....the sufferer and the witness
i've been listening to this album for about 8 months and has really grown on me as one of the best newer bands i listen to. punk roots, but have really found their sound which the album shows.

2......silverchair....frogstomp
was written by the band when they were in their teens, brilliant grunge sound.

3.......janes addiction......nothing's shocking
this cd coincides with some good times when i was doing some soul searching in my early 20's.

4......they might be giants......lincoln
this was the johns' second of 21 albums in 20+ years....not counting the ep's, they are all equaly great but this was the which pulled me into their little cult

5......dead kennedys.....Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death
this comes from my aggresive bmx days....which was from about 1985 til about a few years ago when i found out i just cant recover from riding like i used too.....listening to it right now.....can still feel the concentration and aggression that it gave when attacking a wall....or grinding down a ledge on a steep flight of stairs......or nosepicking a handrail 4ft above a well built ramp.......sorry...kinda drifted LOL

Okay - you got me. I didn't even cheat by Googling it. Who was it? I admit I was pretty young when Surrealistic Pillow was released. My older sisters, teenagers then, were the driving force behind my music appreciation back then.

I have a CD player in my 911, but the sound quality is so bad (despite lots of $$ spent) that I listen to the motor mostly. Living in the frozen north puts me behind the wheel of anything but a 911 most times, hence the boredom and need for tunes.

Lots of great stuff listed. In my main car I have a big CD wallet holding a lot of what you guys have listed. Pixies, Bowie, Cure, Jane's Addiction, etc.
