The daddy is road tripping tomorrow, need ideas...
Three of my old High School buddies and I are hitting the road tomorrow night just to get away and coming back Sunday or Monday. We are in our mid-30s(sweet **** can that be right?) and all dealing with different kinds of stress so we came up with this idea to just get away cheaply.
We are in Michigan and anything in a 10-15 hour radius is in play. Any ideas? Those mentioned so far: Drive south until we can golf in sleeves. Drive to the Packers game just to tail gate then watch the game at a local bar. Then of course various watering holes and perhaps a titty club. Two of us are very married and two are very single. What would you do?

Yes, it had its moments
![]() This is different because it 's a PRE midlife crisis trip. I would really like to do some charter fishing but I think it would be too far a drive for that.

Head north into the peninsular. It's action waiting to happen. Great forest snowmobile trails, great wildlife, nice snow shoeing, nice roads, very decent restaurants & accommodations. I imagine 4 Michigan guys are outdoor friendly.

Flights are set up for weekend charter fishing in southern Baja. It's an industry with mostly Californians. They come on the plane with fish coolers. The catch pays for the trip.

Casinos are a possibility though that could burn up the fund in one stop

You know...I've often thougt of doing just that. I live one mile from U.S. 20. So, I drive to that intersection, then flip a coin. Left or right? Then at the next intersection? Flip again. RoninLB? You make me jealous. You've (sorta) done this.

One of the guys does, but we haven't planned well enough for that. heck I don't have proper outdoor gear. It's more than likely going to be what pwd says, flip a coin and see where we end up... and that's fine by me.

If ya had a little more time, I;d suggest Nola (14 hrs from Detroit). Memphis and then on to the casinos in Tunica might be an option at only 8-10 hrs then backtoMemphis for the titty bars. But there's a cold front moving in so its still gonna be cold in memphis. Drive threee hours more to yeah hello Jsackson, Mississippi and I'll hook ya up with titty bars and golf but it'll likely be a let down.
![]() Quite honestly tailgatting in Greenbay and watching the game in a bar sounds like the best idea given the time constraints. Last edited by Dueller; 01-17-2008 at 06:04 PM.. |

Chicago was another suggestion. The problem there is I know the single guys will drag my fat married ass to those damn clubs where the music(which sounds like a nintendo game) is way too loud and the lights give me seizures

No no no, the road time is half the point. Reminiscing and giving each other hell.
