He's worse than Clinton! Maybe he'll ban trans fats nationwide. Next is a universal gun ban. What else will he try to save us all from?

That conservative columnist Brooks said it best on the PBS Lehrer report tonight: "Biden and Richardson aren't doing well in Iowa because we haven't said a word about them compared to Hillary and Obama."
Isn't this all just a media event up to this point? Or call it the Hillary-Obama show. With lately, mostly good spin about Obama and bad spin about Hillary.
Edwards? Oh yeah. The guy with the organization in Iowa.

Is there a dimes worth of difference between any of these Democrats? Of course not. Except maybe Hillary will have Bill around calling the shots--which he did a decent job of for eight years when he wasn't busy dodging all too many Republican bullets. If she spent more time reminding people of how well off they were in the 90s compared to today, she might be doing better.

Things realist Democrats (are there any?) should be worried about:

1) Can a black guy beat a white male nationally for President? What happens when the media starts to get critical?

2) Can a white woman named Clinton beat a white male nationally for President? How can she overcome the negative media?

Things realist Republicans (are there any?) should be worried about:

1) Can a fundamentalist Christian preacher-type win nationally for President?

2) Are white males the only Republicans qualified to run for President? Or Vice President?

And one more thing: Who gives a damn about Iowa--except the media, which is treating this caucus like it was the final national election in November.

After Iowa, my cat still has a chance to win the nomination--of either party.

You are joking, right?

hytem 01-03-2008 04:25 PM

More stuff on Hillary: I heard one "objective" male pollster say tonite that Hillary's White House experience consisted of "sleeping with Bill." Yeah, but how do we know it wasn't Bill who was getting the experience? Just a token of what she is up against in the media--though she wouldn't be running if her name wasn't Clinton--for sure.

Wealthy Dems want Paul. A lot of his supporters I know are in the H'Wood industry. They're the same Dems who have firearms, and the same who aren't adverse to consider a Republican if they have formidable ideas that go against the status quo.

A Dem in L.A. isn't exactly what they are perceived as across the country.

Great! I wasted my 16,000th post on this thread.

hytem 01-03-2008 04:56 PM

I hope Ron Paul does well . He is a most impressive guy. A real conservative on spending, and for minding your own business globally, except when somebody steps on your toes. Unlike the other Republicans, he talks fiscal sanity. Like a Democrat. Who would have thought.

Bush is making this country weak around the world with a weak dollar, which has halved in value vs the Euro during his presidency. Shameful for a Republican.

Those aren't Dems, those are religion hating Republicans:D

You say that like it's a bad thing. . . ;)

Well, if a black Republican, a female Republican, or a Hispanic Republican run for national office, their opponent accuses them of being an Uncle Tom or not "true to their race" or being "insensitive to women's needs" or some other BS.

According to the DNC, only white males are allowed to choose which party to vote for, everyone else is a Democrat by birth.

Ron Paul has my vote but only because the Dem's will not be seating Michigan (and Florida). Otherwise Richardson would have my vote if only I could give it.

Nope, just an identity crisis.

RoninLB 01-03-2008 06:30 PM

Not many will vote for Rudy anywhere unless they have to. That's how he won in NYC.

lyon 01-03-2008 06:39 PM

Obama!

RoninLB 01-03-2008 06:51 PM

Hillary will be easier to deal with in the WH of all the Dems.

dipso 01-03-2008 07:30 PM

Obama is going to take it, all the way. Two reasons,

1 Youth
2 Polar opposite of current president/frontrunners (intelligent,well spoken,black)

The incompetence of these old white guys is unbelievable,

Invade a nation to steal oil, instead the price of it goes from about 26.00 to 100.00. Amazing, and we still have to buy it!

Lose 2 wars, still plan a third

Plan on bringing respect back to Pennsylvania Ave, instead they get caught with male prostitutes, page boys, mens room BJs, etc, etc, etc,

I don't think you will see another Republican in public for quite a while. I am surprised they are even running one now, I guess they have to.
Silly scared little boys, AlQueda, Osama, nookular, scary, scary, scary,,,,Mommy!

I am not so sure you couldn't be more wrong on almost all fronts.

The nation we 'invaded' I will azzume is Iraq, which broke ump-teen UN resolutions that slick billy was too busy unloading a few shots into an inturns gob than unloading a few shells into a pres bunker in Bagdad. Your gilligans in congrimess all gave to OK including billary. And I guess the other 'country' you speak of is Ahganistan? Not really invaded but weeded.

As for the oil price - the White House has nothing to do with that - its speculation only. Its high because it can be. That point has been understood and worn out. Also - Not so sure you can even think we - these United States - will steal oil from the people of Iraq. That is just a foolish statement.

I thought we broke one too?
And besides don't NeoCons hate the UN?
