condo emptied in las vegas by mistake

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

The real estate team had the wrong condo emptied out and all the belongings thrown away.

They offered $5k for the mistake.

That's ridiculous.

$5k. Insulting.

Hope she sues their asses big time.

I think $200k is cheap. Some things are not replaceable. I'd sue the ***** out of them, they'd be lucky to get away with $200k.

I know I'd hate to have to deal with my kids if they came home and found all of their stuff gone because of a mistake.

That alone is worth $100k.

Fair is fair. The Brinkus' should have to have their home emptied and belongings thrown away. Then maybe they can figure out what an equitable remedy is...

I was thinking she should hire some criminal elements to do just that. Seemed like a single Mom and right before Christmas? I bet the realtors will catch some serious flack on this.

Let the victim refurnish with things from the Brinkus' household; jewelry, dishes, furniture... Then give the realtors $5000 to "make it right".

Hi Rick & Teri,

I am interested in immediately purchasing everything in your home, and I am willing to make you the generous offer of $5000. This offer would of course be for everything; furniture, family photos, jewelry ... well, everything that isn't nailed down as part of the house.

Even though $5000 is barely more than the government offered for "clunkers" a few months back, I'm sure that you realize that it is a more than generous offer for all your life's accumulated possessions.

Please reply back ASAP since I know of a young woman whose condo was recently broken into and robbed of everything. She is in desperate need of furnishings for her condo, and hopefully the thieves will soon be captured and prosecuted.

Merry Christmas

I like everyone's ideas on this topic. 5K is an outright insult! That's absurd!

And how about the condo owner? She's doing it PERFECTLY in my opinion. Not getting emotional to the camera, keeping her wits and speaking calmly. I'm impressed. Heck, I'd like to buy her a new set of glasses and have a drink with her. I'm serious. That's a great quality for a person.

Here it is in print: Las Vegas Woman Victim of Foreclosure Mistake - Las Vegas Now

IMHO she deserves a 6 figure settlement.

I think I'd have called the police and try to have them arrested for burglary.

If handled correctly, she will come out financially ahead on this. And deserves to. Because some things cannot be replaced.

When a lot of homes in Malibu burned, in the 90s I think, a number of lawyers at my old firm lost their homes and all their possessions. I asked one, who had lost a lot of expensive art, antiques, clothes, wine, etc, what was the worst loss. He told me it was the photos of his children.

I'm curious as to where all the stuff is, and everyone seems to be mum about that. I very highly doubt they tossed everything into a 10-wheeler and took it to the county landfill.

Yeah it is a bit odd. Have seen foreclosures emptied before. It all goes to the curb. Maybe things are different in LV.

Some hope from the printed version

Attorney Michael Joe is a foreclosure specialist with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. He says a mishap similar to this happened six years ago when Countrywide emptied a condo belonging to Gerald and Katrina Thitchener in a mistaken foreclosure. "A number of people were sued. Countrywide ended up paying over $1 million in damages in that case," he said.
