Sounds like a pretty special friend. I hope things work out. Its tough - been there - done that. Sorry for your pain.

Racerbvd 01-04-2008 10:46 AM

He seems to be hanging in, still having trouble walking, it might be this cold front affecting his arthritis, he hasn't eaten, but did drink some water earlier, and took a long wiz (that is a good sign) but now he is sleeping draped across my lap. He did give me a scare this morning around 5am, I couldn't find him in my room, and when I did, it was the far side under a piece of furniture and he wasn't moving, well, after the third try, he looked up and I my heart started beating again. Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone.

Attachment to animal friends can be very strong. You've been super lucky to have this many years of love already, but I've got a prayer out that you get some more.

Hang in there Carrera.

Best wishes/hopes/prayers for you and Carrera Byron.

Carrera = great name for a cool looking cat.
I hope that he gets better for you, maybe it is just something
that is temporary. Good luck to you and Carrera.

I'd definitely make sure there is a heater or nice big blanket around. Drinking and peeing is a good thing. Hope Carrera is warm and resting well.

Can you imagine what that cat has seen living in Byron's house for the last 21 years??? The mind boggles...

Get well soon.

That's one reason why we love our pets so much...they know all our secrets, but the toughest interrogator on the planet can't get a word out of them.

Byron? Love him while you can...as you have for the past 21 years.

I'll be wishing and hoping he gets better. Seems like he's been a great companion to you. I'll get my three feline buddies to channel some good vibes for him.

Well, Carrera isn't doing very well, he is very weak, not eating, not drinking, just laying across my lap, under a shirt:(
He did get up about an hour ago, so I set him near his food & water, and he walked past it, stepping in the water, and not jumping out:eek:
So I carried him to his litter box, he did his business, slowly walked out of the box and went under the bed:(
I got him back out & put him back in my lap. I'm about to give him some water with a dropper & mix some milk & honey & do the same:(

.

I am, I have turned down 4 offers to go out tonight so I could stay with him.

pwd72s 01-04-2008 04:03 PM

Good for you, Byron...from you description earlier, I think he wants you to remain close. I'd do the same....

Racerbvd 01-04-2008 05:41 PM

Like I told me ex fiance ( who may have had a change of heart, a bit late) I have had ladies tell me
Quote:

them or the cat
well, he is here, they aren't:(

With over 21 years, no one is going to take me away from him in his time of need. I honestly don't think that he will make it through the night, but I am not going to leave him by himself:(
He has been there for me for over 21 years, I will not let him be alone in his final hours:( as hard as it is:(

Call the vet, maybe you can give him subcutaneous fluids and feeding
!

The vet said just keep him comfy (surprised that with his cancer that he has made it this long) and I gave him 5 droppers full of egg & honey, water before that. I'm staying with him, as I don't want him to be alone (like I'll be when I go). The vet said a while back, that if the cancer didn't take him, his kidneys would, well those are still working. He is very peaceful, doesn't appear to be in any pain, just tired:( If he has to go, I want him to go peaceful & happy.

a good measure of a man is how he cares for his pets in need.

God Bless Byron.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Amen...Believe it. Many here DO understand...

Your a good man Byron. Those ladies missed out. Toughest thing in the world what your doing but your touching our hearts with this - we know how it will turn out as do you but what you are doing is top drawer. Like I said, your a good man.

Racerbvd 01-04-2008 08:12 PM

:( Thanks guys, it is midnight, and Carrera is still resting comfortably right next to me now (a flatter chair, under my shirt) but he is showing more life(stretching), so not all it lost (but it most likely is :()
I will not give up on him, I owe him at least that much, for over 20 years he has been there for me, good, bad, what ever, but he has been there. Three fiancees and he is the one still here. Oh, crap, he just fell out of the chair:eek:

He is still alert, but slow reacting.
I'm going to go on & take him to bed now. Hopefully he will feel better tomorrow or out of pain:(
He doesn't seem to be suffering & I don't want him too, I just want what is best for my lil buddy.
