I looked at a place in Tehachapi not that long ago. It's an interesting area, but it's also very remote and I'm not sure I'd feel so great about being so close to one of the largest prisons in the state. If the prison weren't there, the entire area would be a couple of horse ranches and a couple of railroad guys (RR enthusiasts will know about the "Tehachapi loop").
