not only should there be voting ID, but there should be a voting test. For example, if you voted for George Bush twice, you lose your right to vote one election cycle and get enrolled in a No Child Left Behind program. We need people who will vote the right way in this country.

Rick Lee 01-10-2008 03:56 PM

Shaun, I'd vote for Bush again just to piss you off.

the great thing about Diebold machines is that you can!:D

Rick, I get the impression you'd vote for Bush if you were mistakenly picked up an enemy combatant and spent 5 years being tortured at Gitmo.

As for wholesale voter fraud? It hasn't been proven to have happened yet.

One example of voter fraud. http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=137254

There have been many, and nearly all indictments have involved Democrats. Most stories are buried by the mainstream media.

I think that allowing poor people to vote is wrong to begin with, i.d. card or not. For the most part they are lazy, stupid, incompetent and/or of a criminal bent. If they weren't, why do they not take advantage of the wonderful opportunities this great country offers them to pull their lazy asses up by their bootstraps?

The reason is because we have made it too easy for them to live a life of what they stupidly think is luxury by doling out welfare checks to them and even encouraging them to breed outside of marriage or a stable family structure and paying them even more for each kid spawned!

Most importantly, they have not been motivated to get an education (most of them are illiterate or verging on it) and have no understanding of the issues that must be dealt with in this country - laziness and greed prevent them from doing that.

I'm not hard hearted. When I see poor people I feel very sorry for them as well as feel anger toward them.

If this country keeps throwing hard working tax payer's hard earned tax money at them it will only allow them to proliferate at an even faster rate than they are until our cities are clogged with their seething masses, preventing the hard working righteous folks from enjoying their lives filled with the fruits of their labor.

The non-poor must resist fawning over these poor, ignorant types and quit doling out our money to them which will only allow them to continue living their useless lives and making the rest uncomfortable.

Only then will they eventually die out and the hard working self righteous citizens will be able to build this into a greater country than it already is.

Wow! That was really easy to write! I hardly even had to think at all!

Hah! I knew it!

peppy 01-10-2008 05:07 PM

In VA & NC we just have to show our voter registration card, the county sends it to you every so often. I guess if you don't have it then you would have to show some form of ID.

Racerbvd 01-10-2008 05:07 PM

You have to have proper ID to buy beer, you need it to buy cigs, you need it to cash checks!! All this the poor can't afford an ID is horse crap, if they are driving, they have an ID, and I'm pretty sure that most states do require people, all people to carry an ID.

New Orleans is a great example of that!!

Also, this crap with the dems getting homeless vote, gosh darn it, if they can't make decisions on how to keep their own lives on track, I sure don't want them making any that will screw mine up:mad:

If you live in government housing & are on welfare, you don't need to be voting until you are off the nipple:mad:

There are some here, though, that will read that post, nodding in agreement.......

Flatbutt1 01-10-2008 05:49 PM

We have a sign in procedure here. If ,in the opinion of the registrar your signature doesn't match you get flagged and must show ID. Actually happened to me when I lost the full use of my right hand and had to learn how to write with my left. My sig looked goofy and I had to produce photo ID.

Kind of ironic that some of their voters are too poor to afford a gov't. issued photo ID, but have no problem buying lotto tickets or filing for public assistance, which, I'll make the wild guess, requires some sort of ID. They didn't even stop when GA offered to issue the ID's free of charge! OTOH, no one can come up with an case of prosecuted voter fraud to demonstrate there's a real need for these ID's. Why do I need an ID to receive any kind of government service, indeed, even to enter a gov't. bldg., but shouldn't have to show one to vote? BTW, when I voted this past Nov. in state and local elections, I was asked for ID. If the SCOTUS shoots this one down, I hope I can start buying guns without an ID too.

Hate to say this Rick, but I think you have it figured out...old style ballot box stuffing, once rumored to happen only in Chicago? It's nationational now. Far as I'm concerned? Voting? Might as well play 3 card Monte the streets of any major city. IMHO, elections are rigged...That's why I no longer vote. The only silver lining? I'm less likely to be called to Jury duty...which brings up another topic of rigged systems...

How do you register to vote without an ID? How do you prove you are a citizen?

In Oregon? NOT required..a voter's registration card (mail-in) is given to anyone who passes the Oregon Driver's license test...which isn't much...tests printed in Spanish even. Hey, you want a (mailed in) ballot to vote in Linn County, Orygun? Printed in Spanish? Just request one...Silly me...I used to think that proficiency in the English language was part of the citizenship requirement...and that only citizens had the right to vote?

I know you were being sarcastic, but people who think they are doing the poor a favor by supporting them for life are only condemning them and their children to a life of poverty. Give them a hand up and then send them on their way.
It is too easy for generation after generation to sit there with their hand out instead of trying to improve their own situation.

Of course, if the bleeding hearts care soooo much about the poor, why don't they go out and support them without reaching for my wallet? There are plenty of bleeding hearts in this country to go around, they could wipe out hunger and poverty themselves if they really cared but they just don't care that much. They just pretend like they do. hitlary Clinton pretends to care, but if she really cared she might spend some of her $15 million she has sitting on the bank to take care of them, She could pay for allot of heath care if she cared enough to spend her own money instead of mine.

I'm a heartless bastard and I bet I feed more impoverished people every year than most bleeding heart libs. I do it by choice, not because some poverty-pimp politician decided I had to.
Also, when I do they have to sit through a lecture. That in itself is probably enough to force them to straighten up and get a job just so they don't have to listen to me ;)

red-beard 01-10-2008 06:33 PM

It was rhetorical. I know how easy it is in so many places. In fact, I know that many places count on it.

Yep, and most live in Hollywood:D
If you make such bad decisions that you end up homeless and are multi generation welfare, you damn sure don't need to be making decisions that affect & can hurt the high achievers:mad:

I thought OR had a 100% mail-in ballot system. Do they even have polling stations anymore?

I don't know how national elections can be rigged. The whole process is so decentralized, that no one entity would be able to control it or possible know where which ballots needed to be fixed. If Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris had wanted to rig FL in 2000, don't you think they'd have done it by more than 547 votes when there were many thousands of absentee ballots that wouldn't be counted for a while? And then you have the polling stations in earlier time zones, where the voters might just go home instead of to the polls when they hear eastern states already called on the radio.
