****** potholes!! Need advice pls!
Well, the potholes strike again
![]() Last year it was a blown tire and a cracked rim.... Today, while driving the E30 from the shop to daycare to pick up my daughter, there was a very loud "BANG" from the rear end as I tried to avoid a pothole but couldn't! I was hoping it was a tire, but no... The swaybar mount tab SHEARED off of the pass. rear trailing arm. So here is todays question: Has anyone ever seen this tab successfully welded back on? I am thinking of welding the tab, then welding a boss underneath it. The boss would be drilled in the same location as the tab, but would extend forward under the trailing arm another inch and a half or so. The leading part of the boss would be welded to the underside of the trailing arm, and the rear part "edge" welded to the "re-welded" tab. Think if it as a 1/4" thick steel "band-aid" that would be welded to the tab, trailing arm, and bolted to the drop link mount for the sway bar. Think it will work? Why you ask.... Daughter in daycare, wife student teaching, taxes around the corner, and a new trailing arm is almost $800 to boot! Thanks for the input, -Nick
