New road bike!

First off, thank you to those that responded to my other post regarding Shimano vs. Campagnolo.

I was leaning away from it, but I just picked up a new 2007 Specialized Roubaix Elite for $1200! The 07s have Mavic wheels, 105 end to end except the brakes. Mines a triple, but here is a photo. I am SO freaking stoked. Let the upgrades begin......

I think HardDrive's is going to be a few pounds lighter than mine and a little quicker up the hills

Check this out: http://www.jeksports.com/ordering.htm

If we can get at least 10 people, its only $75 a jersey. I'm sure we can get some design talent here in OT to do the design work.

Wayne?

Shaun (84 Targa) is the guy we need to talk too!!!
I'll be the 1st (don't fall down) to say I'll pay to get a cool jersey to support the site, and as one who was sponsored most of my racing career, that should say something (i.e. I'm not use to paying for my riding stuff)

I've got the same group on my Synapse. 105 is better than ever and real tight. I'd get a set of Ultegra pedals with a pair of Sidi's, they work real nice.

'07 Roubaix Elite for $1200 is a damn good deal! What upgrades do you have in mind? Brakes and saddle? I heard Fizik Aroine seat is super comfy. I like my Terry Fly though and it's cheaper.

Cool Salsa bike. Didn't know you're a bike commuter, Nostatic.

I just bought my 17 y/o son a 2006 Trek 1500 off craigslist today (105 front, Ultegra rear, 105 shifters but no name brakes - cant go wrong for $650 though). Can't wait to have him on a ride with me and the other club guys.

I've been on a Raleigh Cadent 3 for the past 8 months. Pretty sweet ride I must say. Carbon fiber steering head, forks, seat post and stays. The rest is aluminum. Shimano gear everywhere including the 105s.

Let us know what your cycling goals are. Planning on racing, doing charity/endurance events or just tooling around town?

.
salsa lost it's soul when ross schaefer(spl) sold it to some big industry mfg.
former employees from salsa started soul craft. they are still in petaluma, ca. there are many small hand crafted frame builders in northern cal. sycip, steelman, soul craft, rock lobster and many others. i know there are fine frame builders across this country, but i'm biased to the local community.

I had a Salsa ala carte that had the "jellybean" paintjob, done by Ross' girlfriend. They sold out to QBP but I think it has changed hands again. They seem to be back more into steel, but do have the frames done overseas (as does Rivendell and most of the big manufacturers). I have a relationship with the shop and got it for a price that is about 1/3 of what i'd pay for any of the other local guys. I have bought plenty of frames from small builders over the years, but right now I need functional and some cool for not a lot of cash.

Seat, brakes, crankset, rear derailer and brake lever will be upgraded to Dura Ace. I'll probably leave the front derailer 105.

I have an 04 Marin Verona that I have been striping for parts. Frame was crap, but it has some nice tidbits. It came with a really nice FSA carbon crankset.
