I'm soo fing mad I can't see straight
A few months ago we had some teenagers vandalize and steel some stuff out of some cars in our neighborhood, nothing horrible, just stupid kid stuff. Anyway, the police were called, and in the process of talking to our neighbor, I suggested that maybe he should ask around the neighborhood just to see if anyone else had anything stolen/vandalized. Barney responded,"thats not my job. I don't have time for that". Granted, I wouldn't expect him to go door-to-door, but maybe cruise the street and just ask anyone he came in contact with. In the end, he did nothing and the story ends there......... Well, as Ron White said,"I told you that story so I could tell you this story.'' I had early morning today. I get in my truck at 4:30, crank, and I'm on my may. 4:32 realize I forgot to email something to someone, turn around go back home. 4:35 pull in front of MY house house park, run in, do stuff. 4:55 come out to my running truck, find parking ticket attached to wiper. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.@#$!%^^&*(@%#%$!$@#$%#%@%@$%!$#%#%^$#%@%@%!^. Now I don't live on a main street, quite the opposite actually. We live in a small street, in the back of a small neighborhood. It pisses me the!@#$%^&* off that these barneys have the time to write a parking ticket, in front of my own house, with the truck running, at 4:AM, yet they can't ask people if there property had been vandalized. So, to the Mount Juliet police Dept. FU. I'm paying in pennies.

Let me get this straight.
You left your truck, on the street, with the motor running, for 20 + minutes! If I had been the 'Barney', I would have given you a ticket for poor judgement. I'm sorry, my friend, not a lot of sympathy here. Just be glad someone else didn't come across it and say, "Oh wow! Nice truck. I needed a ride." As for the vandalism, yeah, that is kind of slack, but he might have prevented a case of Grand theft auto. Les

No one would ever look at my truck, and say nice truck. It's an old Toyota and has been used has god intended.

Remember too that meter maids are different than the cops that come to investigate a robbery. So-called cops that hand out parking tickets don't carry guns, etc.

This is a small town outside of Nashville. We don't have meter maids, just uniformed officers. I should add that Mount Juliet is notorious for busting speeders. I'll state it again, I'm not really mad about the fact I got a parking ticket(well ,yea I am), just that an officer would take the time to write a silly ticket like this, and not follow up to the above story.

I got a parking ticket once when I parked in front of a post that once had a no parking sign on it, but was missing, the cop watched me get out of my car and said nothing to me. Ten min. later I came out and there was a ticket on my windshield. Again, the sign with the big P on it and the red circle and slash....it was not there. I had no idea I couldn't park there and the cop could have easily told me this instead of waiting for me to leave my car. I called the cop to discuss this with him. He agreed that the sign was missing, but said I should have seen the smaller sign on the post that just had a black arrow on it and known that I couldn't park where that arrow was pointed. WTF? I came back with a camera, took photos and brought them to court. Before I could even show them to the judge, the cop walked up to show the judge his own photos. They were identical to my photos!!!! Judge said, "Mr. LeSchander, say no more. Dismissed. Have a nice day"

The police in my area routinely have video evidence of break-ins and robberys with pictures of the criminals but do not have time to 'investigate'. So I'm not suprised they wouldn't canvass the neigbourhood for a petty crime.
And I'd be more sympathetic to the ticket if the truck was parked and locked vs. left idling, but yes I would be pissed off too. Then I would pay my fine and move on. You can't win this round. |

4 AM?
That's just stupid; plain and simple! I thought you were gonna say your truck was stolen or something.... but a ticket at 4AM, I'd be pissed off too. (Rick: what a waste of everyones time! Jeesh) |

I bet the neighbours were pissed off. An old truck idling at 4am for 20 minutes. Maybe even diesel fumes. Ha, I'll have to try that one on my neighbours.

Old School lives in a residential neighborhood where parking on the streets is very common. Pretty easy for Barney to call it in to ThelmaLou and get verification that the truck was registered to owner at that address. Can't imagine why they would issue a citation like that. Understand your rant. Unbelievable.

So, had your truck been stolen, I can only assume you'd blame BARNEY for that too?

No I would blame the crook. BTW,Where did I blame anyone for anything. I would EXPECT Barney to do exactly what he did in the prefaced story..Absolutely nothing... I'll explain since you seem to have trouble with reading comprehension.. I'm pissed, that when there was a real crime, the PD did nothing. Yet they write parking citations at 4:45am. ( BTW, there is zero no parking signs posted)

Now in 993 land ...

This is EXACTLY why I never call the cops for petty stuff. They will start patrolling the neighborhood and before you know it, you will be the one getting a ticket.
