I just love the reverse course of some Bush supporters. Tell me, just WHAT is the position of the Republican party relative to the position it had say, 40 years ago? Are there ANY similarities?
Where are the Barry Goldwaters when we need them?

They don't get elected because the opposition uses fear to keep them on the sidelines. Little girl picking flower petals anyone?

Supporting expansion is one thing. Funding the federal govenment with borrowed funds is another. Sadly, both, however, lead to deficits and large scale borrowing from foreign countries. I am a firm believer in "pay as you go", and if that means temporary tax increases to pay for our war, then so be it. If it means sacrificing some of the butter to have more guns, that is OK too. If it requires sacrifice and some degree of rationing, that's fine. If it means holding off on projects like "Bridges to Nowhere, Alaska", count me in.
