I'm sick up and fed...

I'm overweight and it's time to do something about it!

Anybody care to join me?

I'm going to lose 40-50#'s by Aug 6th before I turn 40.

I'm currently 232 and I'm 5'9".

I'd like to weigh 185.

It's no secret how to lose weight safely.
Moderate exercise, less fat and carbs, no late night snacking and reduce alcohol intake.

I have a treadmill and an exercise bike. I need to work on those for 30 minutes each day and 5-7#'s lost each month will be a snap.

I'll update weekly.

Feel free to jump on board and post your progess if you wish.

Think how much your power to weight ratio is going to improve at the track!

lendaddy 01-13-2008 06:02 PM

Lord knows I need to. We did this last year and I kept most of it off since but it wasn't much:)

Let me sleep on it.

Trekkor, I'll join you. I'm 5'8" and weigh 220. I'd like to get down to 180. But Aug is too soon.

Oh Haha 01-13-2008 06:07 PM

DO IT!!

I lost 55 pounds when I was 32 and single after my divorce. I have put back some of those but am going to trim down over the next couple of months. I've already lost 8 since Jan.1 just by cutting out sweets and after 8pm ice cream.( I have an apple now and share it with my son.)
I can already feel a difference in the way my clothes fit although I haven't lost any real size.

Oh, I'll be 41 at the end of April.

legion 01-13-2008 06:09 PM

I am 6'1" and was 257 lbs. on January 1st. I have a lot of muscle mass, but I'd like to drop the fat. As of this morning, I'm 244. I'd like to get down to between 200 and 210. I'm thinking of dropping some of the muscle mass, because the day after I work out, I want to EAT. (And I work out 3-4 times a week.)

One of the funniest ads I've ever seen. Peyton Manning comes across like a nice guy. Too bad his little brother doesn't seem to get any breaks...

I'm in!

6'3" and right around 300, but I carry it well :D At my last checkup, 12-1-07, the doc said it wasn't that big of an issue, but I had quit smoking cold turkey in may. He would rather have me heavy, and not smoking, than thinner, and smoking. He also said I couldn't really lose weight right now with the holidays, and not smoking. My body is still freaking out from no nicotene, and trying to lose weight would just depress me.

Well, the holidays are over, and it's time. I feel like crap.

You weren't down Aptos way yesterday were ya??? I had a couple of couples stop at my place yesterday morn talking to me.;) One of the gentlemen I swear looked like you in the pic. I was on my roof taking down my Christmas lights and they were still trying to discuss the watchtower with me. Anyway, not to persistent once I told them I was well versed. They were kind enough to tell me to be careful and not to fall. Course I wasn't distracted or anything.... It was a little surreal.... four people looking up at me trying to have a convo while I was scurrying around on my roof.

I grew up in Aptos and haven't preached there for over 20 years.

Nope not me.

I'm 5'10 & 175# with a 32in. waist & 65 yrs. old. Not bragging, but I've had an attitude about eating all of my life that has served me well. First I feel better when I feel "lean." I follow the philosophy to eat to live rather than live to eat. Mostly I follow two rules about eating: 1) Everything in moderation. 2) When I'm eating, and I realize I've just taken that bite that tells me I've had enough, I quit eating. For exercise, nothing can beat hiking uphill and being outside.. You should be able to find lots of nice places for walks & hikes in the Napa area. Great thing to do on weekends. Also, you might try putting the TV in front of your treadmill & exercise bike and exercise on them while you watch the news in the evening.
Go for it and best of luck.

OK, I'll join in as I already have a head start; started a week ago.

I'm 6'-4" and currently 245, was 250 at Christmas.

I've done the "Body for Life" program and its very good, but more of a body building plan than a health plan?

this is the book for this thread; if you haven't read it, pick up a copy, you will love it........ life changing!

2008, the year to be healthy!

[QUOTE]less fat and carbsQUOTE]

Hey Trekkor....Forget about that stuff..that is NOT important...

What IS important is Calories...you need to reduce your daily calorie intake and BURN more calories through excercise.

Take your desired weight and multiply it by 12...this will give you the number of calories max per day that you need to achieve that weight...

For example 185lbs x 12 = 2220 calories per day diet.... less if you want to lose weight faster.
Cutting your calories by 500 per day = 3500 per week which = 1LB of weight loss per week since 3500 calories is in a LB of fat...

Be sure to lift weights too... More muscle means your body burns more calories.

Jon Favreau, the actor from Swingers and Rudy... has been known to blow up and get pretty large... just last year he got up to 300 LBs and he went on this 1500 calorie diet and added excercise.... now he is down to 215 LBs on a 6-1 frame and looks like he did in Swingers...but the key was the caloric intake! Good luck

BlueSkyJaunte 01-13-2008 11:25 PM

I'm 6'1"...just hit an all-time high of 202 lbs. When I was in fighting trim I was about 170 lbs. The good news is that I actually CAN put on weight now...for a while when I was an undiagnosed celiac I was dropping 10 lbs. / month because everything I ate went straight thru me. Gluten free diet fixed that.

Still, it's probably time to get off the computer, eh? None of my additional 32 lbs is muscle. :(

Rick V 01-14-2008 03:18 AM

When I had to drop 30lbs, about 15 years ago I took a good look at my eating habbits. I was eating good food I was just eating it at the wrong times. You shouldn't eat much late, like 3 hours before going to bed. I made lunch my big meal of the day, and dinner is something lite, like fish, salad ect. I eat small things all day long, like a piee of fruit, a pack of nabs, ect. No soda, just water and juice. (and tons of coffee). I'm 6-4 and I stay right around 200lbs. Maintance is the hardest part of the diet but once you get a routine set it becomes habbit and therefore easy. Good luck guys, Ya'll can do it, and you will feel better for it.
