The Frozen Tundra...

I'm braving the 4 degree temps and heading to Lambeau this weekend...Taking some clients, friends and my Dad (who lives in Milwaukee). Can't make it to the Super Bowl this year, so this is my Super Bowl this year...

Anyone else braving the Frozen Tundra?

Lambeau is on my list...but this weekend would be pure bliss.

Have fun, F'er:)

Take some very large mittens. They did just raise the number but they are predicting minus -5 degress during the game!

If you have never been to Lambeau you will absolutely love it. I have never heard anyone from anywhere who did not enjoy the experience. It is unique in this day and age of pro sports.

Note the yard marker lines that are in the Atrium entry area. They are reported to match and be a continuation of the actual yard markers on the field. Clever little touch...for cheeseheads.:)

The Packers only had 3 losses this year, and 2 of them were to the Bears

adamred 01-17-2008 03:30 PM

I am beyond psyched. I grew up in Milwaukee but only ever saw the Pack at Country Stadium. I have all of my layers of clothing planned.

Additionally my friend brings a roll of insulation that he will roll out for under our butts on the bench and feet on the concrete.

The bliss of watching my beloved pack will keep us warm!

And yes we lost to the bears, but I do believe the bears are golfing right now...

As a great American once said:

"My recollection is unclear on that."

I'm not going this weekend, but I've been to Lambeau many times, only once since the revamp.

Playoff games there are an incredible experience, one you can only attend to 'get it'. It is so unlike any other venue, or any other fan-base. I'm jealous!

The last playoff game I attended was 1996 (?) versus the 49ers where it was 30 degrees and freezing rain. They tore up the turf so bad it had to be cut out and replaced after that game. They won the SuperBowl that year. The energy was amazing.

Yeah it was a mess. I think that was the reason they went to a different grass/synthetic after that season.

I didn't attend that game but during that season we did go to MNF game where Jacke kicked that 51 or 53 yard field goal in the rain to beat the 49ers in OT. We also went to the Denver game but that damn Shanahan held Elway out 'cause they had the playoffs sewn up and it was a 41-6 blowout.

'96 was a great year for the Packers.

You must not be from WI. I'm disappointed to say as a part owner of the packers that I've only seen one game live, and it was incredible. Froze my tail off, but I would pay to do it again all over again. I'm jealous.

Go Pack Go!

Perhaps the most non-hateable sports team ever...unless you are from chicago...

Da, Da, Da-Da, Da, Da, Go Pack Go!

No doubt Grossman and the other "winner" Romo are thinking the same thing - in the comfort of their living rooms.

Laces out!

Better luck next year.

On another note - Adam, welcome to Wisconsin! Have a great time you lucky dog!

GO Pack!!!

gprsh924 01-18-2008 07:59 AM

I was waiting for that reply

The Bears need a quarterback and a running back.

In all honesty, I am rooting for the Packers this weekend, so that they can lose to the Pats in the superbowl.

Porsche-O-Phile 01-18-2008 08:35 AM

Very cool that you were able to get tickets, but the only way I would ever go somewhere that cold is if I had private (heated) box seats. No friggin' way I'd sit in the stands at -5. I think I'd literally die within minutes. I'm way to "Californized"

Yeah, Romo surprised me in that Giant game. He's a local kid so we mostly pull for him but that was the first time that I ever saw him get flustered to the point where it seemed to affect his play.

Well, even tho I lived in IL for over 50 years 've always been a Packer fan but let me give you my take on the Bears.

They basically blew it. They have had a great defense for about 5 or 6 years and anyone with a double digit IQ knew that the one thing they lacked was a QB. (of course, letting the wrong RB get away last year was not too bright either)

Why in the world they not did go after an established free agent QB such as Warner or Brees or a host of others that were available. Or even trade up in the draft and get one of the top kids like Brady Quinn.

But you what? I think that it's now too late. Their defense slipped a bunch this year and Briggs will most likely be gone and Urlacher is definitely going downhill. I personally think that they now could get Brady or Peyton and turm them into very average QB's in a heartbeat.

However, if memory serves me right...I was wrong once before about something.:)

That assessment is pretty much spot on...and we Bears fans have been suffering this entire time (or at least I have) while pleading for us to get a QB. The superbowl was ours last year with a half way competent QB, but instead we had Rex.
