What is a fair selling price for this 1987 Targa
I have the 930 Turbo bug bad so I am getting ready to put my 1987 Targa up for sale. What is the collective opinion of its worth?
1987 Targa (Guards Red) 88,000 miles. No oil leaks Engine needs no mechanical repairs. All service is current New clutch (<5k miles on it) Tires and brakes are good Front half paint is a 8.5? (Some small stone chips down low) Rear paint is a 10 (High quality repaint after a rear-end love tap) Interior is a 9? (some carpet wear around the clutch area) ![]() Your thoughts on a fair price? (This car is on the east coast, not Pomona).

I am currently listing my 84 Targa for sale, all original with 65k miles for $16500. I would probably take 15 for it.
The caveat is that I'm not in a rush to sell it, it's been listed for about 3 months now on craigslist. If I HAD to sell it I would probably list it for 15 and take 13-14.

Because its a G50 car I'd go a little higher....maybe 16-17K to the right buyer.

I saw a 1987 with 121,000 (same color) go in the winter a few years ago for 13,000.....But the market has since rebounded for the G50 cars.....I agree with Dueller that 16-17 should move it fairly quickly.......Depends on the time of year and what part of the country you're in...

Depending on how long you want to wait for a buyer you should be able to get from around $14K to $18K for it.

I just checked ebay.
0 - '87 911's Lots of '86's. My local Craigslist - 0- 87's. Hold out for your price. There's not as many 87-89's for sale as the earlier models. The G-50's should command a premium, plus you have low miles, less than 4200 per year. Of course I only want you to sell yours for high dollar so mine is worth more ![]()

Knowing the car and how you take care of it, I'd say 16-17k.
BTW- I'm 2nd in line for the ride.

Duke, Thanks. Was that anal-retentive to use a car cover for the overnight at the Dragon? Ya think? ![]()

I took a look at prices the other day. Built a spreadsheet to keep track of it all for me, sort of like my own little "Kelly's Blue Book." Prices are all over the place. Some people really want to sell, and they recognize that the market is very depressed right now -- talk of recession, loss of liquidity, sub-prime "crisis," all of that. Other people think the market is great, and that Porsches appreciate in value (or something). I saw a mid-80's 930 listed at $66K, and I saw a '92 964 listed at $11K. No particular justification seemed apparent for those broadly disparate data points.
How desperate are you to sell? If you could hold off a couple of years, you could probably get a lot more for it. On the other hand, you'd probably miss out on a lot of great opportunities: there's a Realtor out there right now, looking out into his garage, at the beautiful 930 he bought when he was selling a dozen $800K houses a week at 3.5% commission. He's wondering how he's going to pay the bills now, knowing that he hasn't sold a single house in months, and how he can possibly unload that car of his. But I shouldn't post when I've been drinking tequila. Cheers, mate, and good luck. Dan
