Car Guy or Porsche Guy?

Just curious, do you view yourself as a car guy, or are you really only into Porsches? Personally, I love cars in general, Porsche being only one of them. When I have the spare cash, I'd love to have another 911. I'd also love to have an Alfa GTV or Datsun 240Z. All are in the same price range.........

I do enjoy cars in general, but nowhere near to the extent of Porsches. Somebody can go on about their 450 cubic inch hemi 6 zillion horsepower amurican muscle blah blah blah, I really couldn't care less. Though I do also love Ferraris and Lamborghinis, they're just too far out of reach for me to really appreciate. I can see owning a Ferrari someday when I've got more time (and cash) to spare, but I can never see being Porsche-less.

I definitely prefer Porsches to other cars, but I'm pretty happy about my BMW, and I enjoyed my VW. I'm often the guy that people call when they need help on their cars, so I've ended up doing a number of projects on Hondas, Toyotas, even (gasp) Fords. I guess working on other cars just reinforces my stance that German cars are more fun to work on.

I was a car guy, but this last purchase made me realize that I really don't want to be without a Porsche. P does it for me.

Love to have a 12 cylinder Ferrari one day though.

I'm a car guy, but I think that naturally leads one to Porsche.

I really love Porsche's, I love the way they smell, the way the metal feels.... they are different than other cars.... I think they are closest I will be to owning an aircraft..... Have had Saab, Volvo, Bmw...., 280Z, RX7, T/A, but they never had the appeal of the Pcar. Needless to say I do like the look of the new chargers, mustangs, and the looks of a Saleen super car would get a second look from me but I think if I had to choose the Pcars win out again and again. Having my 911 is great... I reallllllly miss my 914, and if I had the money to choose a super car I think the Carrera GT would get purchased over all the Lambo's, Saleen's and Ferrari's of the world.

Mostly sports cars and particularly Porsche. But,

I also like old American cars. A friend of mine is building a cool sleeper. He is joining the body of a Lincoln Continental from the sixties with the chassis and drivetrain of a 2002 Viper.

Car guy who loves Porsches. Friends have their vettes, M5s and RS4s - nice cars and a hoot to drive, but nothing makes my heart beat like the smell, sound and feeling I get behind the wheel of one of my babies.

Car guy, for sure. While I admire and lust after mostly Porsches, I enjoy all types of cars except for overly done ricers and "pimped out " vehicles. I think it's cool the youth is finding ways to express themselves with their vehicles but I don't have to agree with their taste.

A story an older friend tells:
He bought a brand new Nova in 1972 and immediately went to Gratiot Auto Supply and installed Gabriel Hi-Jackers and set of mag wheels with 50 series tires. His Dad bitc@#$ about it for the longest time. Darn kids, anyway!!!

Definitely a car guy. Porsche makes some nice cars, and so do a large number of other manufacturers. Any machine I can have fun in is my kinda machine, whether that be a german sportscar, Japanese rally machine, snowmobile, off-road truck, whatever...

I know what you mean. But I think that happens in every hobby until you get 'cred'. Guns, boating, archery, you name it.
As for the poll, I'm a car guy. Enjoy muscle cars and I actually looked at a 240Z prior to the Carrera. Glad now my finger went throught the frame when I was looking it over

I'm a car guy. I love cars. I see things I like about almost every car, even ones that are somewhat poor examples.

For example, nothing wrong with a minivan. It is made for a specific purpose. A prupose that is no longer in my life (thankfully). Nevertheless, they are good for what they're made for but not good for what our 911's are made for. Try to hammer a nail with a screwdriver and it will do a poor job...AND it will screw up the screwdriver AND the nail.

Another example, lowriders. you couldn't get me to sit down in one much less drive one or own one. BUT, the guys that build the best of them display some real design and fabrication abilities. Granted for things I just do NOT understand the value of, but i will not "diss" a man's ride if at all possible. It's like speaking ill of another man's beloved....a SERIOUS no-no in my book. YMMV.

car guy, with a focus on european...i like that they would rather engineer the car to make it better rather then just stuff a bigger engine in it

Definatly a car guy. I once was a jeep guy then i got a 240sx and i loved it but decided i wanted a sports car worth putting money into instead of the nissan and porsche seemed to be the most affordable of the high end cars. I got more and more into them but eventually gave up my search after 5 years and almost bought a m roadster but im glad i didnt because i found my porsche a month after. Im into porsches now but i suspect that will change eventually. Ill probrobly never sell my 911 though. Iv been thinking of building a 30's rat rod or hot rodded vw
