Smitty,
Good to hear from you up in the frozen north! Hope the 4 years goes as planned on both the work and family sides.

Come on down in the spring, when the bluebonnets are out and we will be heading into the hill country for a fun run! You can drive the targa... it has a rennshifter now...:)

I didn't notice what your age is right now. That along with if you have some post retirement work plans and the age of your kids is very important.

I had about 39 years with my company and took early retirement right at age 55. Got a very fair deal (although not a fortune) plus the opportunity to do lucrative (and fun) short assignments for them. Worked out great...for a while.

But then as the economy and the stock market started to tank around 2001, so did the short job assignments. (what's an easy way for a company to cut costs...don't hire the retired guys!)

This coupled with the fact that the youngest of my 6 kids was just getting out of high school did not work out well. The good news was that I was almost always available when she needed help at college!

So you are wise to think about and to factor all those things into your decision. Good luck.

yes that is it, it has progressed to his mid section where he now has little control over urination and fecal controls. I manage this by his diet and regular breaks in the back yard.

Good luck on your decision. I was in the USN from '82-'91 and would have retired in 2002, but I decided that 9 years was long enough. Take your time and consider all of your options. Thanks for your service! Beautiful dog!!
