Website Blocker

I need recommendations for website blockers (myspace, quizilla, etc). Some of my kid's friends have come over and accessed these these sites. The sites are filled with predators and knotheads. I want to remove the temptation of my kids going to thse sites as well.

I have checked out "Net Nanny." Any recommendations?

Thanks, David

Dave: You can block sites by use of a HOSTs file. For Windows follow these directions:

Mozilla is pretty much the same but here's a free add-on that will make it a bit easier: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145

No recommendations but pls make sure that the kids have no computers or no internet access in their own room. Last thing that they need is to be online late at night in their bedroom going around the net trying to find ways around the blocking programs.

Put their computer in the family room or den where its out in the open, and keep it there. And no laptop with WiFi on it.

Hosts file if one computer, if multiple computers then a nice transparent proxy ...

I tried all of the recommended ways though IE, but it did not work. I did 5 different methods, but nothing worked. I reviewed "Net Nanny" and decided to give it a try. I has all the features I was looking for. I have a 14 day trial version.

I'll report back as I evaluate it, David
