love at first sight or slow burn?

This was alluded to in a previous thread, but I figure we'd make it overt. So a poll. With your wife/s.o. (ex or current), was it love at first sight? Or did you slowly come to love her?

Lust at first sight, love a little later. Engaged after 6 weeks, still married after 16 years.

We met in high school and it was love at first sight (on my part), took a little longer to convince her that I was the guy for her. We've been happily married for 21 years!

I've had lust at first sight. It's never turned out well. I've dated and then it became serious. Those also never turned out well. I met my wife freshmen year of college. We didn't start dating until senior year. Time to hit the hard liquor.

I don't think it's actual love at first sight, but there was definitely something different at first sight. At least there was for me, I knew immediately that she was special and she was...but love is not instant. I voted two.

Not sure it was"love" at first sight because she was a customer of ours, which is how we met. After our first date, I knew she was the one I had been looking for. Call it a "soulmate" or whatever, she is the one that had all of the qualities I admired in my perfect woman. I had been married before and knew what I didn't want. We've been together for 8 years and she has given me two beautiful kids and supported my Porsche habit. Heck, she even sold her car so we could buy the 911. I now know what is meant by unconditional love.

i thought my wife was very cute when i first met her, then we went out to coffee and i discovered she had brains and had read as much as i, and some of the same things i had. done deal for me. she was the only woman i dated that had read a tenth of what i read in a single year. married for almost 14 years. still in love after all this time. almost forgot: we met because i got in a fistfight at a club with some guy that was getting aggro with my friend!

She moved in before we started dating. I guess we never did date. She knew a sister of mine and wanted to rent a room. It was kind of a zen thing. Jim

My wife and I ran in the same loose circle for years; most of the way through school and then for a few years after. We knew each other, but never really even thought about dating or anything. Her boyfriend (still a good friend of ours, by the way) dumped her, and another mutual friend arranged a "sympathy date" for her. He asked me to take her out so she wouldn't sit around and mope. So I did. No big deal; nothing noteworthy. Months later we were still going out when neither of us had anything better to do. We dated for months before I ever even kissed her, where "normally" it was a date or two and straight to the sack. Two years later we were married. We have been married for 22 years now, and grow closer each year.

As a senior as an undergraduate business major I had to take a particular course my graduating semester. I refused to take an 8 am class and the only other one that worked in my schedule was a Tuesday/Thursday class with an insane professor who used to be Dean at some B school in Illinois. He assigned seating the first day of class - 20 males and 5 females, so we sat boy boy girl boy boy so every girl was surrounded by boys and every boy sat by one girl. He assigned small groups too: four boys and one girl to each group. Guess who I got assigned to sit next to and was the girl in my small group? We didn't date that semester, never even crossed either of our minds. We ran into each other the summer after wegraduated and started hanging out. I went to law school that fall, she got her MBA, and we would travel to each other's schools to visit. Eventually our hanging out became dating. Our dating became engagement, and then we got married. There was a fair amount of mutual lust at the begning of the hanging out part. That kind of changed everything. Still don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for the old insane ex-dean.

I donīt buy into the concept of 'love at first sight'. To me love constitutes the complex arrays of feelings for a person you have got to known over a period of time. Lust however is a first glance emotion. So yes, I have felt lust at first sight, where love was added over time.
