One of our new engineers is the same age as my ex-stepchild, born in 1981. It is pretty amazing to see how different Historical perception is for someone for someone even slightly younger.

And to add to the above list:

Micheal Jackson has always been a Child Molester and looked White.

what a lame list.
how would anything on there change the day to day lives of anyone in going to college in Wisconsin?
how would anything on there make an older person "wiser"?

Seems like the changes in Germany, USSR and China are significant, yes?

There are also numerous references to changes in technology which have certainly changed lives; the way the youth get their news, the internet, etc.

The meta-message is that the world has changed in really big ways and this has changed the way we live and look at the world today.

Best,

Kurt

edit: My Daughter was born in 1998 - her life is radically different than mine was; I feel like a really old man when I tell her "when I was kid" stories.

that could be but it is not due to anything in that list.

not significant to me.
what changes have I seen in my day to day existence due to this? perhaps nothing?

Sure it does!

I think you are taking the list only on its face.

For example, the list says:

15. Russia has always had a multi-party political system.

I recall having air-raid drills when I was in elementary school because there was a real fear that a nuke war with Russia could happen. Living in a cold war environment had a big impact on the lives of Americans and those in the USSR.

Or:

4. They never “rolled down” a car window.

This is just one of thousands+ of changes brought about by high tech; think of all of the other things that one born in 1989 would not be exposed to because of technology . . . and how tech is literally changing lifestyles.

Or:

They were born the year Harvard Law Review Editor Barack Obama announced he might run for office some day.

Unfortunately, when I was a kid it would have been almost unthinkable that a black man or a any woman could be elected president. Times have changed, yes?

Look beyond the one liners and you will get the "message". :)

Best,

Kurt

Some no, some yes. Here's a start

1. What Berlin wall?
You have always been able to visit Berlin.

2. Humvees, minus the artillery, have always been available to the public.
You never drove on a road where you didn't have easy 50% of the road being enormous vehicles constantly blocking your view.

3. Rush Limbaugh and the “Dittoheads” have always been lambasting liberals.
You never seen a time when the country wasn't polarized.

4. They never “rolled down” a car window.
You've always had to deal with the concern of when getting down the window since the motor can fail.

5. Michael Moore has always been angry and funny.
You never seen a skinny Michael Moore. Has anyone? LOLOL

6. They may confuse the Keating Five with a rock group.
You didn't lose your ass in the S&L scandal.

7. They have grown up with bottled water.Bottled Water
You never got ripped off on tap water in a bottle, you just went to your tap.
