FTG Offers an Olive Branch to ChampCar...

... and it looks like they may be accepting it. The Three Amigos have really fuched things up, so why not?

I have mixed feelings. I HATE Tony George and what he has done to open wheel in this country. But I also am dismayed to see CART/ChampCar as a former shadow of itself. Getting everyone together will be good, but not if its under Tony's rules and they stick with NA crapwagons. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Let's hope it works, Richard. I used to be a big fan of Champ Car until it was torn apart by The Fued. I could never get into the IRL and Champ Car just disappeared (in my mind) as many of the best drivers in that series migrated over to IRL.

Richard, are you thinking about making it to Cars & Coffee tomorrow morning?

It'd be nice to have a restoration of sanity to open-wheel racing in this country - especially now that F1 is no longer coming to the United States (you can thank our friend Tony George for f*cking that one up too - along with the predictably greedy Ecclestone). However, I'll be FURIOUS if the City of Long Beach bends over and kisses Tony George's ass by attempting to change the date of the LBGP. That S.O.B. has been trying for the last several years to actually shut this race down. Aside from the fact that I happen to enjoy the fact that it runs pretty much outside my front door, it's a piece of racing history and that jackhole doesn't care. He deliberately sought to ruin it, just as he ruined just about everything else in American open-wheel racing. He's been the WORST thing possible to happen to the sport - even worse than the "push-to-pass" button in Champ.

Anyway, I'll actually gain some respect for the City government here if they tell Tony George to go "F" himself - at least for this year. I sincerely hope that if there is a reunion of IRL & Champ, that Mr. Tony George's influence over the LBGP's future dates will be marginalized.

Frankly, I thought the inclusion of the ALMS series last year was awesome - even more interesting than the showcase Champ race, to be honest - especially that Tracy was out.

If anyone knows how to f**k things up, its Tony George. Hey, he's just picking up the scraps. Really, how long can/would ChampCar last in its present form ? I cant wait to see how Danika Patrick finishes now with so many more players in the fold. Tony's probably paying for the whole thing, but he has the money, it's his court.
