Only movie I ever walked out of was "Down and Out in Beverly Hills."

It was so awful and had actors in it that I've come to avoid now that I know how much I dislike their acting. However, the critics loved it at the time.

So bad I don't know how it ends.

WHAT!!???

That movie kicked a$$. Bruce Campbell's Elvis was spot-on and Ossie was hysterical as JFK.

"I'm thinking with sand here."

I'm ashamed that I know that.

Alexander, Troy , Gone in 60 secs remake, Italian Job remake, Battlefield Earth,
endless list of crap, i really can't be bothered to start thinking which one sucks more
i only have 4 classifications, 1 classification for bad movies:> Great, Good, Watchable, "sucks the chrome of a glowing hot exhaust pipe"

Porsche-O-Phile 02-05-2008 10:53 AM

I walked out of "Hellraiser" back in high school, partially because it sucked and partially because the girl I was with wanted to go out to the back seat of my car and fool around instead. Wasn't gonna' turn that down.

I think the worst one I've seen RECENTLY in a theater was "Chuck and Buck". God, simply awful. More f*cked up homo references than "Brokeback Mountain", which also sucked now that I'm thinking about it.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just don't have any interest in looking at it.

3 that have already been mentioned and three that I can't believe haven't...
- Battlefield Earth
- Bats!
- The Fountain
- Barbarella
- 2nd Matrix movie
- 3rd Matrix movie (somehow worse than the 2nd)

Nuance might be a little lost in this thread, but there is a difference between a badly made movie and a movie you just don't care for.

For example, does a bad script make a "worst movie" if all other elements (cinematography, music, effects, costumes, set design, editing, etc.) were otherwise well-done? Maybe. I understand a bad screenplay and bad acting are two elements that can doom a picture, but not always. Depends on the genre...... and the audience. In fact, there are plenty of popular movies lacking a good screenplay and acting.

Maybe we should name a smaller group of movies with no signs of intelligent life apparent in its creation. Wouldn't that whittle the candidates down from 20,000 to merely 15,000? :)

As much as I enjoy Kevin Smith's movies, Clerks 2 was trash.

I think Wil Ferrell is funny but his movies are tough to watch.

I violently disagree with some of you guys (shock). 2001 is an amazing film. Kubrick was a genius. Tweaked, but a genius. Bladerunner defines an entire genre.

Two movies I almost walked out on were Running on Empty (funny that I would meet the screenwriter some 20 years later) and History of Violence. Despite the fact that I love Bill Murray, I thought Life Aquatic was really quite...bad. I find Wes Anderson over-rated. He wants to be the Coen Brothers. But he isn't. And farce rarely works.

Porsche-O-Phile 02-05-2008 12:48 PM

I actually liked Clerks 2. It was raunchy as hell, even by Kevin Smith standards and wasn't on par with the original (which is cinematic genius, IMO), but it made me laugh like crazy at parts. The image of Randall with "PORCH MONKEY 4 EVER" written on the back of his jersey still makes me crack up. Funny, yes. Stupid? Yes, in parts. Entertaining? Absolutely.

Love K. Smith's stuff. Even "Mallrats".

I'm gonna have to violently agree with this. ;)

2001 and BR are fantastic movies, the subject matter just might not have universal appeal. Nothing wrong with that, but it has nothing to do with the quality of the movie which should be judged based on whether the artist achieved what was intended and whether that intent was worth achieving.

In the same vein, while I am personally not a big fan of buttfuchin, I think Brokeback was a very good movie. But maybe those that say they don't like it just don't like westerns. ;)

My vote for worst movie...."Guilty By Association". The Picture of Morgan Freeman on the box is a complete misrepresentation. He has maybe 3 lines and 30 seconds of screen time. Its a train wreck.

Someone here didn't like Pulp Fiction but I thought that was a great movie, everyone in it was good. Great soundtrack. You just had to watch it, pay attention.
Another like it was Snatch, I thought that one was good. You just had to be paying attention.

How come no-one has mentioned Lost in Translation?
'terrible film imho.

RANDY P 02-05-2008 03:17 PM

I have a contender..The Celestine Propehecy

This IS the worst movie in the world. Based on kook nu age nonsense.

Most dissapointing was that they managed to turn "Bucho" (Desperado) into an all out sissy.

This will kill a few brain cells.
