Biggest problem now is sense and avoid, or due regard, both in the air and on the surface for all unmanned vehicles.

That, and operator quals...currently itches that can't be scratched

The Navy might need swarms of these to protect those "seabasing" island bardges in a few years/decades.

I can't see these protecting our coast with the current "open borders" situation - why bother?

I've been watching too much Lou Dobbs perhaps.

EDIT: Have you seen what these German yahoos did with their boat? I'd feel safer around a brainless/humanless UMV.

None of the current vehicles are fully robotic. Most have some limited robotic capabilities but are tele-operated by humans. i.e. the human gives a relatively high level command (turn Left) and the robot figures out rudder settings, swivel on the thrust nozzle, etc. for itself.

I have that RC boat. It is WAY too fast for use in a pool....ask me how I know. The only issue I have with it is no reverse.....but it is VERY fast. I got it for $30 online.
