What kind of stones do you have to have...

to actually eat a McDonalds "Filet-O-fish"?

Can you imagine what their definition of fish is?

Rot 911 02-06-2008 04:57 PM

I eat them all the time. Actually pretty good.

lol, seriously? Are you a fish guy anyway or don't they even taste like fish?

lendaddy 02-06-2008 05:00 PM

I just have this vision of the fish processing factory where all the "stuff" that gets scraped up at the end of the day makes it's way top the McDonalds conveyor:D

The same as their definition of beef and chicken. I like the "Filet-O-fish". A little cheese and mayo comes standard on that sucker. Goes right down.

I love em yet I don't like fishy tasting fish. I rarely get fast food as my wife cooks nearly every night, but I can't resist the "2 fer" specials during lent. I don't know how they make them (and I don't really want to know ;)), but they are nice and white inside and I can polish off two of them in a heartbeat :D

I won't eat fish from any place that is not in sight of water.

NICKG 02-06-2008 05:38 PM

i love the filet o fish! only thing better is the McRib...buit they never have them here anymore...
i get 3 fof when i go...

lendaddy 02-06-2008 05:40 PM

This is great, a guilty pleasure of many:)

I'm with legion though, fish is different and it has to be from a respectable place and it's identity obvious. For instance I LOVE Long John Silvers chicken planks. I have been on those suckers for years (dipped in vinegar mmmmmmmm) but I have never not once ever even considered ordering their fish products.

Filet-O-Fish is o/k.

Rent Super Size me and watch the extras at the end where Morgan Spurlock does the experiment with the burgers and fries.
After 60 days at room temp. sealed in plastic the Mc. Donald fries didn't change its appearance at all.

I've been to one of the plants where they make filet o fish....in Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Let me save you some googling: There ain't no oceans in Jefferson, WI.

lendaddy 02-06-2008 05:48 PM

Man fish will go bad on the boat ride back to dock, lord only knows how long the humps at mickey fickey let that sucker rot on the loading dock. No dice:)

TerryH 02-06-2008 06:01 PM

With our rivers, streams, lakes, and oceans so polluted we are now advised to eat limited amounts of fish. Fish raised on farms are the only real safe fish anymore. At least it can be mercury free.

Rot 911 02-06-2008 06:12 PM

Lendaddy, my favorite fish is a rainbow trout I just caught on a fly, waist deep flyfishing in one of our rivers. Take it to the bank, gut it, put it on a spit over a wood fire and eaten. That is good eating, but a filet o fish ain't bad either. :D

strupgolf 02-06-2008 06:14 PM

I would guess that the McDonalds filet is no worse then what you would find at Red Lobster. The frozen fish is no worse, its white fish, and looks the same. Oh well, I like them.

Best I ever had was Canadian Walleye that we caught on a fly in lake. We had it cleaned and in the pan with only butter over the campfire within 5 minutes from the catch. Just unreal!
