Not sure if he is still around, but I liked some of the bikes that builder Greg Westbury made. I liked his use of skinnier tires, almost pedal bike like. His scoots seem very small and "bobberish".

It reduces pressure by spreading out the wt. over a larger contact patch, but it's flat so I don't see it providing much traction.
