It was in 1964, I think, that I saw that car run at what was then called Cecil County Dragstrip at what was billed as the first super stock showdown! It was an elimination type, if you lost....goodbye! I think the racing started at noon and finally about MIDNIGHT Don Nicholson and The Ramchargers met in the final. Don would rev the engine to 7000 RPM or so to launch the car by dumping the clutch BUT the Ramchargers had this newfangled thing they called a "line brake" or something and I remember seeing their rear wheels slowly turning as it eased to the line. When the green light lit it shot like a rocket! Poor Don he never had a chance!

I grew up a few miles from a drag strip and spent nearly every weekend there in my teens. My favorite was Super Stock and Pro Stock. Still love it even though I've been into road racing and rally since I was 20 or so.
