The Kings Of Horsepower Fire It Up
NHRA kicks off this weekend at Pamona. Antron Brown takes the top spot in T/F in his first outing with 8000+ HP at his control. Tony Shumacher looks tough as always & John Force, back from last year's season ending crash makes it into the field in his last attempt & goes to #3!

These cars have gotten so fast. I remember the 250mph barrier when I was a kid, I did not think I would see 300mph. Now I am looking for 400mph before I die.

They go 280 at the 1/8th. If they had a tire to hold it, they could go 450.

Give them time they will come up with a way. The drive will probably pass out, but I still want to see them go that fast.

A new T/F driver is partners with a good friend of mine. We asked what it's like. He said it's way different that you think. He said there's no "hit by a Kenworth going 100" feeling. He said it leaves (hard) then at about 60 feet (100 mph), the downforce from the wing is coming in & the clutch starts to tighten up & it's like it leaves again. At about 600 ft the clutch tightens up the rest of the way & it's like it leaves again. It drags the motor down & from there it's just let it pull & hang on!

WTF? I just say Tony Pedragon racing John Force. Pedragon red lights, but stays in it. At about 900' it lets go, BIG! Blows the back of the body up in the air, the back wheels off the ground & lights up like an oil well fire. The front of the car flops down in his face. He is probably at almost 300, all 4 gl of oil & tons of fuel is on fire, back wheels in the air & cant see at all. Hits both walls and spins it around. Fire suit is burnt up. He walks away, says his hands are burning.
