i'm also getting unknowns requesting to joint
i suspect to many dorks think they should joint the group simply because it looks cool :D
or because they think they need to network with people who have money(if they knew me, they would probably reconsider) and success.

Oops, when I joined a few weeks ago, I didn't know about the PM deal. Sorry. Fortunately my name is unusual enough that it had to be me.

I've looked through the members. It's an interesting mix of occupations and folks.

It sure is... quite a mix!

Is there any good way to let the others in the LinkedIn group know your PPOT handle? Some of the folks in the group are recognizable because their real name is partially represented in their screen name, but I'll sometimes look at someone there and wonder who they are on the board.

Exactly the problem... I don't want any professional contacts reading the drivel I spew here :D

That's one of the reasons i'm trying to keep the group exclusive, and only via PM or other form of a heads up.
I keep getting requests from complete unknown's, some who are member of 20-30 or more groups...to me that tells me they are just network whoring...

So with the added requirement, at least we can assume there's a 95% chance that anybody in the group, is indeed somebody who posts on this forum...I don't require 10 000 posts or an otherwise regular post count, just basic membership, that predates the linkedin request for a least a short while...

All we need now , is a secret handshake

And business cards that display only 4 letters. 'PPOT'
