Rent Movies?

We love movies but only get out to rent about once every couple months. With PPV at $5 a pop, I started looking at renting online. How long does it really take to receive movies once you send them back?

Oops! Forgot to add Watch movies in theaters.

A day or 2 max. Netflix has distribution centers all over the place.

Blockbuster via mail/B&M. Real convenient and relatively inexpensive.

NetFlix is great. I hesitated for the longest time, but having to deal with the dregs in the local Blockbuster finally pushed me over the edge. And, depending on how many movies you rent, you can/will save money over renting the BB. It's a nice surprise to find a movie in your mailbox when you weren't expecting/forgot about it. It's even nicer knowing there is no deadline to watch/return it.

Netflix usually receives the movie I sent back the next day and I get a new one a day or two later.

Same with BB - or - you can turn videos in at the B&Ms for an instant trade.

Netflix is great.
I rent standard def and Blu-ray movies through them and I've rented a couple of movies through AppleTV also.

The true advantage of the online rental is that you can get classic and independent movies that you will never find at the local video store. If all you watch are the new releases, this may not be important.

I also like the netflix software which suggests movies to you based upon your ratings on movies you watched. I have stumbled across some great foreign movies which I never heard about this way.

Used to. Haven't had a video store membership in about 4-5 years. Don't really miss it - typically too busy anyway. I've only ordered one or two things on PPV in the last 3 years.

If I want to catch a movie, we'll either walk down to the theater or watch "what's on" (or sometimes I'll TIVO something ahead of time if I know it's coming on and I'd like to see it). Or I'll just watch one of the dozens of VHS/DVDs we have, but it's not all that often. NetFlix and such seem like good ideas, but honestly, I don't have much time to sit around and watch movies.

I did go to see "Juno" last night. Loved it - great movie, well put together and well-acted. Before that, the last one I saw was "Sweeney Todd" and before that? Hmm. . . I think it was either "Ratatouille" or "Golden Compass", don't remember which.
