Loser is one of those words one wants to spell correctly. Along with lose. Spell check won't help you with them, because it thinks that you are trying to say "looser" and "loose".

We were in England last week and saw many "learner's permit" stickers (even on motorcycles, except theirs were a white background with a red L)...If I may ask, what is the timeframe that one leaves this designator on the vehicle?

I never said I was not one.

I suck at spelling I always have and I use firefox and PP's Spell check does not fuction with it, I depend on the little red lines to appear under wrong words and they did not appear under my looser. Loser, oh look neither has red lines. I guess I am one too.

Stuart. Where do you live that you put a L on the back of a car for learners permit drivers? I have never seen that before.

I don't think you are a loser at all, Jim. I use spell-check all the time. What I was trying to say is that those words will not be underlined because they're both spelled correctly, and spell-check can't tell grammar or what you are trying to say.

"Loose"= this nut is loose, and

"Lose"= we are going to lose this game.

Roux, Jim. I dont know what currently happens in the UK, in my state in AUS, younguns can get L plates at 16. They must have log booked 120 hours on L's (with a fully licensed driver) before sitting a licence practical and written test at (minimum) 18. Then they carry a red/white P (Probational) plate for 3 years with vehicle/bike type restrictions. Any infringment in that first 3 years (including .00 alchohol) costs them their licence. New laws are just being introduced banning P platers from carying passengers in year 1. (silly, IMHO)
