It's not official, but there are rumors that Eddie is having some issues and that the rest of the tour is being canceled. More as the news trickles in...

I'll admit this only to my Pelican brothers, but I broke down and bought Valerie Bertinelli's book, just finished it yesterday. Man, Eddie was/is a basket case. That man has partied and abused his body more than all of us here combined. She said he was a non-stop coke addict through their entire 20 yr. marriage, started smoking again a few weeks after he had part of his tongue cut out for oral cancer, was a raging drunk and strangely, a total workaholic. She has a little bit in the book on the current tour and said Ed was doing pretty well. I honestly don't think he's gonna make it much longer. I don't think people change their lifelong habits when they're in their 50's.

![]() I've been alright, made it through last year and now trying how to do the same but better for this year. I still think about your two laptops. The ball was in my court to call and I ended up forgetting. From what I have read, you are now primarily in Nevada? How have you been? Oh, I worry about other trivial things as well. Stay tuned for my update on the store that never goes out of business thread...

Update:
The American Airlines Center site is now saying that the concert for tonight has been postponed until April 24th. Eddie Van Halen is reported to be going through some "medical tests". Oh well, we'll see if the tour gets canceled or not...

Last year Eddie was in for a few days at the recording studio I work at.
Eddie Van Halen is a raging lunatic, but actually pretty nice. The term "bouncing off the walls" comes to mind.

That photo is at least two years old and he looks nothing like that now. I saw him twice recently and he looked better than ever.

Van Halen postpones more shows, but tour not canceled
March 3, 2008 02:03 PM By Jon Zahlaway LiveDaily Senior Writer Contrary to widespread rumors and various unconfirmed reports, Van Halen [ tickets ] has not canceled its in-progress tour, but the group has announced plans to postpone several more shows due to an undisclosed medical issue with guitarist Eddie Van Halen. The classic rockers--who late last month postponed shows in Charlottesville, VA; and Duluth, GA--have now pushed back tonight's show in Dallas, as well as subsequent dates in Cincinnati, Baltimore and Raleigh, NC. All four newly postponed shows have already been rescheduled for April. "According to Eddie Van Halen's physician, he is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures," the group's publicist said in a press release, but did not provide any information about what prompted the medical attention. Barring any additional postponements, the group's tour will resume with a March 11 makeup date in Charlottesville, which pushes back to April 9 the group's originally scheduled March 11 performance in Manchester, NH. The band also has rescheduled the postponed Duluth show for March 19, which bumps a previously scheduled March 19 show in Hershey, PA, back until April 11. Details for all of the postponements and upcoming shows are included below. Van Halen hit the road last fall with frontman David Lee Roth at the helm for the first time in more than two decades. The outing ended up being one of 2007's Top 5 highest-grossing tours, prompting the group to book a new leg of shows that kicked off in late January. Plans for the Roth-fronted outing originally surfaced last February, at which time the group announced its intention to mount a summer tour. Those plans were waylaid last March when Eddie Van Halen headed into rehab. The legendary guitarist resurfaced last April looking more fit than he had during the months leading up to his stint in rehab, and a subsequent press conference was held last summer to unveil plans for the late-2007 tour, which marked the debut of the band's new bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's 16-year-old son. In April of 2001, Eddie Van Halen announced that he was battling some form of oral cancer, which he later said he had beaten and was cancer free. I had a big crush on Val B way back in the 80's and I'm glad to see her dropping the weight.
I don't think Ed's gonna be around much longer. |

I didn't get to see this tour, but I did see him play and was able to get one of his pics at a concert many years ago. I hope everything turns out OK.
