Do you honestly think that Montana at his very best could have taken that Packer team last year (the youngest team in the league along with starting a rookie DEFENSIVE player at fulback to start the season) and led them to the NFC Championship game?

There is no way that Montana could have carried a team in that manner. Favre did it in his 17th season!

Okay, one more and off to the sack:

If Joe was such a super QB why then did he have such average stats at Notre Dame? I think that he had just about as many INT's as TD's and that was playing at a college powerhouse.

Had Joe went almost anywhere except SF in the NFL draft he most likely would be no more than an NFL footnote. His time at KC pretty much proved that.

Maybe it was Walsh and Seifert or maybe it was the players around him but facts are facts!

Good night.

What? No love for Kenny Stabler? :D

Come on fellas, let the guy retire with the respect he's earned by putting more into his profession than the vast majority of people on this planet. I have nothing but respect for the man. Hat's off to Favre. He done good. :)

Michael Jordon was "average" at Carolina, and I (being a leftie too) liked Ken Stabler :)

To the Joe and Brett arguments.....they are both great for different reasons. The simple fact that you can have the argument says a lot for Brett and Joe.

In unrelated news Aaron Rodgers breaks his ankle while getting up to get the remote while watching the Favre Press conference. He is expected to make a full recovery by October.

Brett is a serious guy. Top notch QB, country boy who "done" good. Folks around his home town love him. One of the toughest guys to ever play the position. The're will be a hell of a party at "The Broke Spoke."

You know Mule, unlike the other guys who might disagree but usually have a point to make...you mostly say nothing...which IS actualy wise since when you do try to speak you show your obvious confusion.

Yeah, but ND had great coaches while Carolina had a coach who made it a point to hold the players scoring down and win in the last minute when he could have blown out 99 percent of the opponents!;)

Yeah, that deal Aaron had with the practice injury does not bode well for the Packer future. But he does look like the real deal if he stays healthy.

I wonder what the chances are of the Bears going thru 21 QB's during the "Rodgers era" like they did during Brett's reign? :(

Touche' (I hated Carolina for years before Worthy went there)...now don't go diss'n on Stabler :).

WI wide body 03-05-2008 09:31 AM

Most folks around the country probably don't realize it but the true reason for Favre's retirement at this very unusual time is named Thompson.

Stabler was one of my favorite QB's. Not a great talent but got the job done and played on some good teams just like Joe.

Smith had to be one of the most over-rated coaches of all time in any sport. I loved to agitate the Carolina fans when they would routinely have about 6 future NBA stars on the team and Coach Dean was implementing his famous four corner offense that made sure the game was close at the end!

So Favre is running for Governor of WI?

TerryH 03-05-2008 09:48 AM

I won't believe Favre's retired until the season starts and he's not suited up.

Could be...he's supposedly coming up here tomorrow for a press conference.

Sure would get more votes than any of the hacks we have around here.

dd74 03-05-2008 10:11 AM

Well, I could see that one coming. He'll follow in a nice line: JC Watts, Jack Kemp...

What will this do to Vicodin sales?

Dude, you're still living in the mid-1990's. Try to catch up. He's actually a family man now, not traipsing off to tittie bars in Chicago with his buddies. :p
