How loose do you wear your watch?

Recently I've seen some guys wearing their watch very loose... I attended a software boot camp in Seattle two weeks ago and our instructor was wearing an Omega Seamaster that was so loose he could probably slide it off his hand without undoing the clasp.

Personally, I wear my watch fairly tight... not so tight that I have any problems with circulation, but tight enough that I could not possibly slide the face of my watch to the other side of my wrist.

Am I the only one that thinks a loose wristwatch looks funny? Should I stop caring?

Here's a pic of my wrist and watch for reference:

Loose enough to move, but not loose enough to rotate around on my wrist.

Mine is just a little loose. I can spin it around on my wrist, but it won't flip around to the inside of my wrist on its' own. If I grab the face of the watch, I can slide the whole watch up and down my wrist about an inch or two.

Unfortunately for me, my wrist is thicker where I wear my watch than at the joint. As such, I wear it so that it can spin around with some effort, but it easily slides down my wrist and over the joint frequently.

Loose.

Can't stand em tight.

Prefer Metal bands vs leather/fabric just for that reason.

Also prefer heavy watches.

Have a ton of nice delicate dress watches and they never feel comfortable.

Yep, same here. I don't like it tight. Due to temp changes or exertion, the tightness can change noticeably over the course of the day. Sometimes I have to change holes in the band to adjust for the change.

I also don't like too loose. I don't want the thing ending up backwards or sliding up and down my arm. I wonder how many of the guys that wear them that loose do it because they don't realize that they can adjust that out.

I also don't like a really heavy watch.

I wear an Omega Seamaster too, but I have the larger chronograph. I like a big heavy watch, but I'm very tall and lanky. I notice that my watch feels tighter and looser as the day wears on. I don't like mine too tight, and I always wear long sleeves, so I try to wear mine just loose enough to rest in the space between my wrist joint and the bottom of my hand. I can slide it up or down over the bump on my wrist joint but can't turn it around my wrist. I can look down and see the time without pulling up my sleeve. If it gets uncomfortable there I can slide it up to the more traditional spot and it stays there without me feeling it. My dress watch is a Rolex and the owner's manual on that said you need to wear your watch a little tight to keep the band from stretching. Supposedly the band stretches more when the watch is being pulled around when it's loose on your wrist. That's more of an issue with gold watches, not so much with stainless steel.

That's a little looser than I wear mine, but still acceptable

I'm right on with Mule... mine is loose enough that the bracelet can move freely over my wrist, but tight enough that I can't physically move the face to the underside of the wrist.

That was exactly my thought when I saw this guy and his Omega... it looked to me like he must have every link still in place.

leather band..stretching on it's own? Now I can spin the watch around if I work at it, but it's not loose enough to tighten to the next strap hole...

I'd prefer it tighter...

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

i just recently, WITH the help of JOeASKA here on this bbs, found a rare link i needed for a watch to loosen it up. this one will be on the tight side. but i dont think i can find another link. thanks joe! i seem to cinch up buckle bands on the tight side.

Fairly tight. I have seen guys wearing their watches super-loose- would drive me nuts, especially when driving!

I normally don't wear a watch. I can't stand things attached to my body, though I can wear something on my left wrist.

I prefer it tight. If it is tight, I don't feel it moving around.

-There is a picture of Daniel Ortega, the Sandinista fascist former Dictator of Nicaragua, scratching his head while sitting next to Fidel Castro. Ortega had his proper proletarian ROLEX un-done on his plump wrist. It was obviously flopping all over the place-

I don't understand how you can stand having something like that loose. That watch on the communist wrist? It must have been 16 ounces of 24 carat gold! That kind of weight would drive me up the wall. I keep a cheap watch called an "Aqua-tech" on my arm. It is plastic and a fabric/velcro band, and it must weigh 35 grams. It keeps perfect time. And I keep it fairly tight- no movement.

That is, when I decide to wear a watch , which isn't very often!

N!

That's cool Vash. As a friend with a gold rolex president explained...if you make the band too tight, the soft gold band will expand, right???

Funny that I don't know, or care, about such a problem...

Rolex doesn't think so. As I said above, the owner's manual on the day-date model specifically says that wearing the band too loose stretches the band and that you need to keep it a bit tight.

Gee...are you talking a stainless band? A gold/stainless band, or a solid gold band??? Enquiring minds want to know...

I don't wear a watch, not a jewlery kind of guy. I wear my wedding ring and a gold chain my parents gave me 30 years ago.

I do own a few watches, and wore them fairly tight on the wrist, little motion.

Thats you changing, not the watch.

Rolex would say this rather than correclty pointing to their very ordinary bracelets.

I dont know how people manage to wear watches loose, it drives me nuts. Each to own I suppose.
