Wow. Great pics. The second from the top has a grainy, gritty look from another era. When you posted it in tabs' thread, it seemed to capture his world perfectly.

Just wondering, is there a middle class in Hong Kong. Seems like all I ever see are the places of the very rich and the slums. Any in between?

There aren't really a lot of "slums" in HK. I was in the older part of the city, but even there much has been rebuilt. In fact one of the pics in the collection (with the "end" sign) has an older building with a banner on it complaining about old buildings being demolished.

I saw almost no homeless/beggars, and public places were incredibly clean. You would not believe how nice the subways and trains are, despite insane amounts of usage. There is a palpable sense of civic pride, and everyone from working class on up seem to take responsibility for making their environment nice.

In part this stems from the intense crowding. There are so many people stuffed into very small areas, if people are lazy it gets ugly quickly...and affects a lot of people.

I was very impressed with the city. And won't complain about the size of my apartment ever again.

yeah, those are from the Leica. I got a few from the Pentax but not many. I actually returned the K10d and am pondering my dslr future. I wasn't really happy with the glass I had with that. The 100mm macro just didn't do it for me. I think older primes are the ticket.

The D-Lux 3 rocks though...
