He didn't give you that power?? WTF is the point of being a moderator, then? To just continually post "open letters" like this?

Frankly, the problem w/ the board has been the weak moderating. Maybe you guys are too nice for the job or something, I don't know. Any board will sink to this level, (or usually worse), without some serious boundaries that are enforced uniformly. When two different posters made KKK-type remarks in some thread recently, ("I hate niggers" was one of them), and were not immediately banned, I lost respect for this place.

The problem is the moderating, period. The internet is filled with WI Wide Bodies and Mules and Byrons, the problem is that you have given them a safe haven. They've all been warned before, they know that you are a big *warner*. Whooo-whoo...

Total ph-ucking weak sauce!

It's the internet for gosh sakes. If they want to call each other names like 5 year olds, who really cares? Other people here are just as guilty by throwing insults that incorporates hunters as "insecure idiots" or Christians as "mindless sheep" etc. and it goes on and on. Just stop with all of the PC upitty BS and let people be how they are and then take what they have coming for doing so. Either they're man enough to take it or they'll pick up their glove and ball and go home.

There is no "problem" with the board except for those that in their own mind are above someone elses view somehow.

dhoward 03-08-2008 05:39 AM

Bush hates moderators.
Or is that moderates?

At any rate, the mods are poo-poo heads.

bivenator 03-08-2008 07:09 AM

While I agree with RedB in principle, it does get tiresome when each thread devolves into the usual suspects locked in a name calling flame war.

First, let me say again that I appreciate the opportunity that Wayne gives us and realize that he is operating a business first & foremost. My question is, is the real problem a lack of political correctness? I have no doubt slung my fair share of insults. If you check, they are generally directed towards a particular individual (with the possible exception of the peace loving muslims). I have been in heated exchanges with people saying that the entire city of New Orleans should be plowed under because it's residents are shiftless & lazy. Now I don't know about everybody, but for me (& some others), having lived most of my life there, this is far more insulting to far more people than the "My Mom is getting her ass kicked by a negro" T shirt. There was no issue with any of those statements however. In America today, you can rip the South, the angry white man, Republicans, any establishment linked people, and any other politically incorrect group, while at the same time considering a Hitleresque communist murderer like Che as a hero. It seems that a few people would like that level of PCness here. I will abide by whatever is done because I obviously get a lot of enjoyment from playing on this board. But are there really that many people here this thin skinned?

It is the internet. Personally, I can't recall ever having my blood pressure rise as a result of any of this. When people get together & exchange ideas there will always be some who are determined that their vision of things be what is followed. This happens in everything from community associations to corporations to political parties. Wayne has done an excellent job of ignoring this & letting things sort themselves out as long as it doesn't get too crazy.

If I was a moderator I'm sure I would get fed up with the stream of complaints from folks who consider a photo or a comment or someone's position or how they part their hair, "inappropriate." I hope we don't have to go too far in the PC direction in order to defend the constitutional right of some folks to "not be offended." Thanks again to Wayne, Zman & Nostatic for all the enjoyment you "tolerate."

Now that sounds like a desperate man.
Of course people can say "but this is the internet!", but a few of us remember when this place was a lot more friendly than a lot of the other sites. I recall wishing I could meet up with just about anyone on this board for a drink, and in the last couple of years the folks around here have started to make me embarrassed to visit this site. I have yet to see Byron, WI, Mule, or any of those people change another persons opinion on anything.

Why not think of how the rest of us are sick of seeing you guys act like asses and try to make this a good place for us to share ideas.

RANDY P 03-08-2008 11:05 AM

well,

if it's just reduced to some guys posting F%^K and obsenities all day then yeah, ban them. - but a catty attack during a debate isn't anything to lose sleep over. Keeps things interesting.

This would be a damn boring place if all we did was post pics of cars all day long. Over-modereation will lead to that. Too much PC will do that too.

I like the fact that OT is wildly OT. Even I get sick of talking cars afer awhile.

Good! Now you are welcome over to any recent poll you like! :D

So do you mean only ideas we can agree on? When you say more friendly do you mean no one spoke out against Christians, Muslims, Gays, pedophiles, gun ownership, people who hunt, or that Corvette ownes have a small penis, Republicans are neo-cons, Democrats are liberal nit-wits, what do you mean? There was never a difference in opinion or a clash in personalities?

Give me a fricking break. You say Mule sounds desperate, I say your post sounds weak. And I'd still throw back a beer with you.

I've been around here about as long as you and I can't seem to remember this utopia you speak of.

gprsh924 03-08-2008 11:25 AM

What they are saying is stop having every third thread turn into simply mule and WI quoting each others post and b*itching about it for 7 ******* pages. I hate pc bs and really don't mind insults or things of that nature. It just gets tiresome when every thread turns into the same catfight between the same people.

scottmandue 03-08-2008 11:29 AM

I enjoy this place because of its diversity but I'm calling you guys on the "Its the Internet suck it up" bu11$hit. Sure we live in a free country but that does not mean the majority of the population should have to bow their standards to the few at either ends of the bell-shaped curve. If you want to look at p0rn, hurray for you... have yourself a field day... millions of places on the Internet where you can do that. You want to discuss you personal brand racist/religious/political bigotry on the Internet, fine... I'm sure you can find other people on the Internet that share your twisted views that you can share with.

Point being... I don't speak for Wayne but if you read the form guidelines (anybody her ever read the form guidelines?) it seems like the idea was to have a friendly little online form for car guys to exchange ideas... not exactly what this place turns into sometimes.

If you've lost respect for the place, you're free to go. As is everybody else, myself included. I tend to err on the side of giving people a chance and also will explain my reasoning/approach. Maybe that is the wrong way to do it...but it is what it is and I yam who I yam...

tabs 03-08-2008 11:32 AM

Dear Jacka$$. The problem with you lies not in the fact that you say outlandish things it is that you can be hit on the side of the head and you still don't listen. You just keep on and don't back off. Fast Pat and Mulholland were the same way and they are no longer here. . But that is just being Mulish I guess.

Now from one of your posts I know that you do have a brain in your head and your alter ego assumes the posture of being intractable. Intractable doesn't quiet do it, it really shows no finesse. It is like swatting a fly with a sledge hammer, it does far more damage to yourself that what it achieves.

Anyway I told you once before you were treading the line with a banning...

scottmandue 03-08-2008 11:33 AM

BAN ME! BAN ME!!!!

You smelly American pig dog!

tabs 03-08-2008 11:35 AM

You mean I can say, "My mom is being fked by a nigger?" Not that I would ever use the word nigger in anything I ever say. I think using the word nigger is reprensible, it is so demeaning to other humans to be called a nigger. How would you like to be called a nigger?

U see I have actually learned something from an attorney..one named F Lee Bailey.

Mule 03-08-2008 11:35 AM

As the Bloodhound Gang says, I appreciate your input, tabbie. Make sure to pass your opinion along directly to the moderators as I know they are waiting for your invaluable opinion so they'll know what to do.

scottmandue 03-08-2008 11:46 AM

I hear there is an election going on... anyone hear anything about it?
