The fact is that there is a problem that is impossible to fix.
I know little about this legislative proposal but it seems to me that the goal is to get most of the illegal immigrant legalized as quickly as possible... Yes they are pardining the past taxes.. but guess wha, once they are legalized they will have to pay taxes else jail time. Now they can get away with it. So look at it in a relative way... If nothis is done they will stay in the US illegally and not pay taxes. If they are legalized then they are forced to conribute. Next... paying the Mexican govt to keep them there... Well I think it's a stab at solving the problem before it becomes one. Yes, it means some money goes to a foreing govt to help fix what allegedly is their problem... but as soon as these poor bastards cross the border it becomes and American problem... It would be much better if they stayed in Mexico in the first place... Yes it looks like the lack of background checks is scary... Then again the majory of these guys are just scraping by with day jobs etc. As soon as you "register" them then they are on the map... It is easier to follow them than if they are in the US with a false SS number, false driving license etc. The problem is that you can't deport them en mass. So make them legal and tax the crap out of them afterward... It's interesting how you can put any spin you want on a piece of news. It's down to the journalist to do a good job to keep the balace.... I feel this was not done properly here with populist titles etc. People are not stupid, they just need to know whats happening, but tell them their money is going to Mexico and you make them pissed off. Explain what final goal is and they might change their mind. Again I don't know whether the proposal is democrat or republican. I am just saying that you can see why some of those clauses were introduced... to speed up the progress of the legalization in order to save money now, save them in the future and get these people into the tax system asap. Whether it will be successful or not I don't know. |

If the Democrats are indeed responsible for this bill of excrement, then they do need to be reconsidered.
I suspect that this bill is just both parties pandering to the hispanic crowd. The sad part of all this? What about a person who has tried to enter the United States legally? I have a friend who has probably spent upwards of $10,000 on legal fees, has left his home and job behind [in Europe, not latin America...], and has done nothing more than bring in over $3.6 million in investment funds to south Florida. After all this, his investor visa was just BARELY approved recently, and in three years he may have to leave the country! All because he did it the correct, legal way. Hmm.... N |

GAFB. Both sides of the aisle have been playing 'nudge nudge grin grin wink wink' with the illegal alien issue. Pull your heads out of your collective arses already, save the partisan chest thumping the for the Bush/Obama/Hillary hating threads.
