phew, got reaquainted with long lost friend. she is HOT!

wow, when we were kids we had family friends. the girl was very nerdy. smart, very smart. but skinny, nerdy...very nerdy. we liked her and her brother fine, but there was always some mixed feelings. you see, they were my parent's dream kids. smart. did i mention smart? compared to them, my parent only saw the hooligans in us (chinese parents, tough love). well, i saw her again, after many many years at my cousin's wedding. she now has a great husband, and three kids. i was blown away! she got very good looking. the skinny kid part, became a benefit, because 3 kids didnt faze her. turns out that she lives relatively close, and my wife and i are going over to their home for a dinner party. damn glad i was never mean to her my bro even asked, "now why didnt either one of us date her?" i replied, " i think we were too dumb".

funny, i think i went the other way....

School reunions are great for this. The ugly ducklings and nerds usually are the winners in this game.

Have never been to a reunion since...

Happened to me too! Showed up at our 10 year reunion with the prettiest, youngest gal in my arms. And I still had the full head of hair, while most of my classmates were bald or going bald fast.

And there was the jock / valdictorian in my class who is somewhere up in New Hampshire still searching for himself -- jobless, goal-less...etc. He was one of the guys that constantly wailed on me (stomach punches) and made me out to be a loser. Hmm....

Lot of folks at that reunion were actually surprised I showed up, given the way they mistreaded me.

Gotta love them class reunions...

You couldn't pay me enough to go to one of those things. No thanks. The day I graduated high school I vowed to never go back, and I haven't.

Life is about moving forward, not going backwards. I can think of very few things from high school that helped me as a person. I refer to those as the "lost years". It took me several years after to simply undo the mind f*ck I'd endured. No burning desire to relive unpleasant memories (including what a d-bag I was) or pretend to get along with people I never liked in the first place.

Pelican OT is the high school I should have had. I learn more from you guys (and get more amusement out of it) than I ever did back then.

I hear ya, P-O-P, but for me, I didn't go to the reunion to 'relive the past.' Nor did I go to prove that I wasn't a loser. It just so happened that everything my classmates said I would be (a loser, a good-for-nothing, a waste...) didn't happen -- rather, in many cases, that is what happened to them.

Funny how that happens...

Much the same way here. I'm probably living better and happier than 90% of the people I graduated with, but I guess I just don't feel like I have to prove it to them. I did it for me, not them. The "positive motivators" I provide myself are more important than any "negative motivators" or burning desire to prove them all wrong they could ever provide me.

Ultimately, it'd be giving them all too much credit. High school for me was largely a waste of time and worthless. My biggest regret is I didn't get passionately into something back then. Heck, I probably could've been one of those "graduated college early" kids if I'd bothered to give a damn. The whole experience was just such a de-motivator. Blah. I just enjoy life today and I'm glad I made it here - hoping it gets better each day too. . .

I've put it behind me. WAY behind me. If I could disavow it and cut it out of my past entirely I suppose I would, but whatever.

Here's to turning out better than anyone thought we ever could (including ourselves) back then! Cheers!

I was voted most likely to succeed in both high school and college; ha, go figure?

Dad always said, "be careful who you compare yourself to; and if you must compare, then only compare yourself to the very best." Now that I'm old and so much older, I say why compare at all? Who cares what others think, live your own life and live it to the fullest, everyday!

Most people talk a mean talk (or post a mean post), not many walk the talk

Don't be the Leader of the "losers", be the Leader of the "winners"

Funny how that works...shortly after I got married, women I thought would never give me the time of day were hitting on me. I poop you not. I still wonder WTF that was about.

women always want what they can't have.
in fact, I think its a general rule about people, not just women.

Went to the 20th myself although I was a 'Co-op", kids that had to work while going to HS. One chick in particular used to break my stones. Saw her said hello asked her if she remembered breaking them. She said "Yeah but look at you now, didn't seem to have bothered you." Her with the fat arse and four kids. As with some of you others, still have my hair, still fit into suits I bought 25 years ago. Got layed that night also.
