"One Toke Over the Line, Sweet Jesus"

Now how many of you thought this would be a thread about religion?
Nope.
Just hilarious.
The video pretty much explains itself.

You can say "it was a different time" or something like that, but c’mon!!!
Somebody on this show knew what it was about.
The best part is the very end and how Lawrence himself describes the song.

Wow. I remember having the B&S Kama Sutra 45 of that when I was a small kid, thinking I was being sooo subversive.

Now it turns out Guy, Ralna, Bobby, Cissy and for all I know, Myron Floren were cranking it out as well.

"And there you heard a modern spiritual by Gale and Dale."

Maybe Lawrence was speaking in code to all his hippie brothers and sisters out there.

I loved that song when it was in the top 40 back in the day. No better era to be a kid in the back of your Dad's VW than the late 60s - early 70s...

It had to have been a bit of self satire. Either that or the squares in the 60s really were as obtuse as they looked.
