Talking Video of a 935 chasing another 935 at the Nurburgring

This is a 9 1/2 minute video taken in-car of a 935 at the Nurburgring, other than the music (which is a bit disco-ish), the video is the best I've seen of an honest-to-god 935 taken from inside the cockpit. The guy gets passed by another 935 early in the video and then spends the rest of the time trying to get past, all the while dealing with the typical slow crowd at that track. Pretty mazing video.

That's not Disco, it's the Knight Rider theme. Germans love the Hoff.

Go to the 911 Board and post this in the 935 thread.

I really wanted to. You don't think it'll get moved since it's not really a "tech" issue? Oh well, what do I have to lose? I'll post it over there too.

At about 3:20 - the front 935 gets so far almost instantaneously.

I love how the guy looks at the other driver when he passes him.

He doesn't seem too concerned with his shift light tho...

that's not a shift light
it's a boost light
to tell the driver when he's boost is about to come on, and watch what he's doing
notice how it goes out when he revs higher, opposite of a shift light

I thought you were only supposed to pass on the left there?

Can someone explain to me why they are passing on either side? Sometimes on one side then one on the other side of the same car.

Awesome driving none the less.

Is it my imagination or is that track loaded with Ford Fiestas? Golf's maybe?

So that in one lap around? Wow.

I read the rules which state overtake on left side only.

It seems that the disparity between cars would lead to crashes if the slower ones were not looking out for the ones from behind.

That was taken during a race weekend in 1988 at the Nurburgring. The main race of the weekend was a 24 hour race, but the story goes that the cars were banned from that race because of complaints from the factory participants that the 935's were so fast (like 20 seconds per lap faster) that the manufacturers didn't want the then 10 year old cars embarrasing their factory cars. As it was, all of the factory entrants retired for various reasons and the race win ended up being taken by a 15 year old RSR. This video may have been taken during a practice run or maybe a support race. I'm not sure. Either way, I'm guessing that's why there was passing on all sides.

I'm embarrassed to admit this but...The song is called Supernature by Cerrone. I bought his album while living in Germany in about 1979. It is indeed European Disco.
BTW, that helmet looks like the same design that Nigel Mansell used in F1. Did he drive 935s?.

Why, oh why could they not have used ANY track from the 'Autobahn' album by Kraftwerk?

The driver of the leading 935 is a famous German by the name of Armin Meiwes.

Thanks for the link ... great video! We watched it earlier this morning after the F1 race and it inspired us to pull out GT4 driving game and take some laps at the 'Ring
