I wonder if he'll bring the "Juggies" with him. This has potential.

I've never watched his show, but if his car collection (as seen in "Grassroots Motorsports") -- a longhood Porsche 911, and a Datsun 510 is any indication, then there is hope cuz that makes him a car guy in my book.

Well okay, maybe he has good taste in cars. I just don't think the man is very funny - although I will give him a chance to prove me wrong.

I do not have high hopes for the U.S. incarnation of Top Gear. And, the inclusion of Adam Carolla as one of the hosts sets my expectations even lower. I do not find him to be engaging, entertaining or funny. But, he does seem to be an accomplished whiner.

Why not some other "car guys" like Tim Allen or Christopher Titus?

Jay Leno would have been the obvious choice to me. . . TV personality, funny, and a BIGTIME car enthusiast.

Top gun is a amalgamation of 3 car guys. Adam might just be one of them. I would love to see Leno in a show like this, but I think it might be a little niche for a huge personality.

Leno's too big for this. Carolla could be good, he is a true car guy and brings a smart-ass attitude not unlike the orginal show. It will depend on who they team him with.

I'll be watching.

It has potential. I will withhold judgment until the first season is done. It takes a few shows for a new show to "click".

I remember listening to him on Kevin and Bean/KROQ as Mr. Birchum a shop teacher that gives out real construction advice that was right on the money. He was in construction before he started in radio. So I was excited when he did a series where he flipped a house with his friends. It was terrible....the whole show was him yelling at his friends to get off their asses and how he was so rich and "famous" and didn't have time for to work on the flip. He was too busy putting new brembos on his new Aston Martin. He didn't offer any meaningful advice on any of his episodes. What makes TG England work is that the hosts are made up of 3 fairly regular guys...and the show is bigger than they are...not the other way around.

Carolla has a 1972 911T RS replica with a suped up 3.0. He likes woodworking, and flying RC airplanes.

And he likes girls in short skirts jumping on trampolines.

Why some of you guys here don't like him is beyond me.

Then again...

He also has a serious 510 Datson BRE replica that is bad ass. Carolla is a car guy and his daily is an E46 M3. While he may not be as funny as other hosts could be but i would rather have a european car fan that american muscle car fanatic. Not that I don't like american myuscle but there is 5 shows I can watch for that.

+1!!!!

I think a lot of you guys just don't like his type of humor. I listen to his radio show almost every morning and I personally think he's freakin' hilarious. I used to listen to Loveline here on KROQ in the evenings just because of Carolla.

And also... think about how divisive Clarkson is on the British Top Gear. He's a car guy, a total smart-ass, and talks about how much money he has and how smart he is.

Sounds like Carolla is sort of the American Clarkson... without all the American car hatred.

I enjoyed listening to Adam during his LL days. I recall he kept calling Mountain Dew the "nectar of the tards" and was reminded that MD was PepsiCo which was a big advertiser and... well ya gotta get paid..

If they are allowed free reign to call a turd a turd then it could be very fun. If they have to throttle back to appease the $ then it may suck nutz.. and we can call them on it.

I'd guess the odds are fair to good that AC is a lurker on PP given his taste in cars.

was flying from NY to LA and i always get on the plane as late as I possibly can so im sitting there and up comes Adam Corolla wearing jeans and sandles, people recognized him and were soon talking to him so he was standing there holding court with probaby 7 or 8 people and just being cool everyone was laughing at his comments, so we all got on the plane and he got the first seat in first class and was the first one off the plane, but by the time I got off he was still standing outside the plane in the terminal holding court again with several people... i respect that in a celeb who is down to earth and happy to chat with anyone who comes up.

then i read his bio in LA magazine and he has some pretty sound thinking on dealing with life actually not a bad guy at all at least on the surface...and everyone knows that Top Gear is a 3 part collaboration so whom they pair up with him is much more important... i mean would you like Clarkston if you met him in real life? id guess he is probably a prik based on his demeanor...but who knows.
