What is it with NY politicos? Gove. Patterson and wife both admit to affairs
Sheeesh. Patterson and his wife have issued a statement that both had extra-marital affairs but stayed together and worked it out. Guess someone was trying to take him down so they were forced to go on the offensive.

I like Patterson.
He comes across as a nice guy who knows the ropes--and intends to avoid the pitfalls that he sees coming. Believe it or not, I like Pat Quinn too...and I wish he were my governor sooner rather than later...

Who cares? Sarkozy got a mistress, divorced his wife and remarried all while being president. As long as it does not involve $4,000 hookers, it should be nobody`s business.
And even then, it is only bad because Spitzer went after prostitution rings, IMO. Paterson is so scared that it would come bite him in the ass, he put it all on the table from the get go. That is really pathetic. Aurel Last edited by Aurel; 03-18-2008 at 10:02 AM.. |

Really. What people do with their own genitalia is their own business. If they've mutually forgiven one another who really cares?
Friggin' bottom-feeding media again. Cripes. Give it a rest.

The first step to avoiding a trap is knowing of its existence.
(Bonus points to anyone who can guess what book I'm currently re-reading.)

NYC and Boston laid the groundwork for politics in the US. It's still old school culture.
Traditional policy for officials in NY is being Irish or Italian and having a mistress in Albany. Party officials policy making meetings involves getting drunk and banging office girls. If you're not a drinker you're an outlander and belong in Omaha.

Sounds like the kind of advice someone would find in Sun Tsu's "The Art of War".

No, not that serious a book.
But your tag-line made me think of the Butlerian Jihad.

He's well liked by both parties because he's a political party player. The bosses say who runs and who wins. The candidate has only to show his face and keep his mouth shut. Patterson is a player and is over his head as governor. He probably doesn't even want the position. He'll be a baby sitter till the bosses figure out what to do with the next election. Spitzer was a problem waiting to happen because he had his own agenda. Both parties hated him.

We need to round file the lot of them. Not one of them seems honest and someone who you can trust. Fire the lot of them, institute two term limits and lets move on.

I have no problem with a caretaker governor.
It's the ones that try to do something that cause problems.

Term limits will help eliminate the professional pol, which is the root of the problem. These guys need to work for a living.
