McMaster Carr rant?? WTF?
So, I go and place a small online order (85.00) at McMaster Carr and then get an email stating:
"Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing complexity of United States export regulations, McMaster-Carr can only process orders from a few long-established customers in Canada. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this causes you. " Thank you, David Ulam McMaster-Carr Supply Co 330-995-5929 Ummm WTF does the "every increasing complexity" have to do with it? I buy stuff every week in the USA and have it shipped here no problem! Anyways, I guess I will look elsewhere which is a shame as they have such a great range of products. Cheers

I have found that a lot of items that in the past had no problems going from one point to another, now seem to set off all the bells and whistles for a border crossing. I receive items from Canada fairly regularly, and it now takes more time plus the packages usually have been opened for inspection. I believe this is due to the new wave of anti-terrorist actions. Some of the businesses may not want the extra hassle that goes with the new shipping problems. I don't really have an answer that will help you. Certain types of businesses seem to have more problems than others, due to the type of materials that they specialize in. If you think you might want some local help, PM me about it. Tony.

Yeah man CBP is making imports and exports alot tougher for everyone. We now must plan at least 3 weeks to bring in raw materials from the EU. Even from our own factories.

The parts are just some small torsion springs that i need for a project, but I need them pretty quickly and they are imossible to find here. I can have them made here but it will double the cost.
I will check with the spring manufacturer on the timeline to get them made and then maybe take Joe up on his offer! We import material regularily and I ship product weekly to the states with no hassles besides a few pages of paperwork. Oh well, I guess "the times are changing"! Cheers
