I saw one at the Chicago Auto Show.

I liked it.

LOL . ..the ending... the second driver really needs to work on her feigned enthusiasm for the machine.

Hyundai - the MeTo knock-off corporation.

Pretty cool intro. A RWD Hyundai? What is the world coming to?

Wayne,
You seemed so confused about cars lately.

Cool looking car - RWD?

Honestly, before I knew they were female drivers I thought the driving (and the fireworks) were amateurish. Sorry.

Kinda cool. What's the price? Might make for a good cheap daily scoot.

Looks like a budget G35 coupe. 300hp and sub 6 sec 0-60 time could be fun. Pricing will be the key to its success.

That's wild. I didn't even see the car, because the dude sang the first verse of the song wrong. I need a vacation.

Looks fine. Nothing special. In four years, it will be ignored. Japanese (and Korean) designs look great when they are introduced, but they don't age well. They aren't classic designs.

300 bhp RWD for $26k, you can't argue with that. I would still expect Hyundai to eventually drop their 385bhp V8 into it, though.

I think its an ok looking coupe, I prefer the Mustangs style, but I would certainly take the Genesis over the kitsch of the new Camaro or Challenger. As an added bonus, Hyundai has shot way up the reliability rankings in recent years, high enough to challenge Toyota. I just wish the Genesis spoke to me a bit more in terms of styling, there is nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't get me going...

Can you track day something like that?

I mean lap after lap after lap..

I would be afraid of rotors getting warped, tires shredded, lifters ticking, front end out of alignment..

It's a good point, Gaijin, but I have friends that track Japanese sportscars without difficulty, so I don't see why the Hyundai would be any different. Of course, the reality is that only a tiny minority of any sports coupe owners will ever track their cars, anyway.

Anyone know the weight of the Genesis coupe?

As long as its a track "day". After the weekend, you most likely will be replacing all the things you mentioned.

LOL'er.

All it needed was a touch more cowbell (didn't see the incorporation of any gals in bikinis) and they would have emptied the Cliche Playbook.

That's like saying I know friends who have German cars which have been reliable, so I can't see any reason why British or Italian cars would be any different.

I would be interested in seeing how its put together, I might go to a showroom and look at one when they hit the street.

I remember when the RX8 first came out my mechanic and I were at a Mazda Rev it up people must have thought we were nuts we were crawling around peeking under the car. We were really disappointed to see it had single piston front brakes. The 4 piston brakes on the 3rd gen and 2nd gen turbo cars were remarkable. Why Mazda did not continue to use them was a mystery to us.

I think it looks like a Nissan 350Z / Infinity G35 blend in the rear the front... I dont know what to call that.

But if its a performer (the numbers look good) and its built well it might be a runner.
