Actors you won't see

The "Into the Wild" thread got me thinking ,,
What actors/actresses/entertainer won't you go to see because their politics overshadow their talent ?
Here's a short list of mine..

Shaun Penn
Tom Cruise ( he's just an idiot)
Dixie Chicks ( don't like country anyway)
Linda Rondstadt

dzls rok 03-22-2008 04:25 PM

tom cruise
nicole kidman
kevin costner
not because of politics or religion...they just suck as actors!

Tobra 03-22-2008 04:31 PM

Whoppi Goldberg, that is more about her being annoying than anything else, but dislike her politics too

Mule 03-22-2008 04:39 PM

If the choice was slam my ***** in a car door, or go see Barbara Striesand, call the paramedics.

Nicole Kidman is a good actress...or at least better than you think.

Add Susan Srandon and her dippy hubby what ever his name is? Mr Shawshank (Tim Robbins)....OH Alec Baldwin...wooohooo....Mr leave the country...

Now I don't know about Nicholas Cage...but talk about over rated.

Demme Moore....pbbbt!

Rob 'The Meathead" Reiner....Capital Y capital E capital C capital H....that spells YECH!

Kevin Costner..for some reason I just don't care for him...

Komenda Fan 03-22-2008 04:41 PM

I could care less about there politics. Just because you disagree with someone doesn't make them your enemy.

tabs 03-22-2008 04:42 PM

tabs 03-22-2008 04:43 PM

Tim Robbins is a great actor...

billyboy 03-22-2008 05:01 PM

Ted Danson. Why do people give any weight to their opinions? In the 1800's, actors were considered lowest levels of society. Kinda like used car salesmen are now. Oh yea, plus all of the above. Why should I support their delusions of grandeur.

I don't think Nick Cage talks much politics. He's friendly enough on the set, at least he talks to the crew between takes. Many don't. I've been told my several people that Tim Robbins is flat out arrogant and condescending on the set to the crew, and a general whiner and pain in the ass.

bt1211 03-22-2008 07:31 PM

I have never went to a movie because of the actors in it. It doesnt make ANY difference to me which actor plays the part.

CJFusco 03-22-2008 07:33 PM

I tend to avoid movies with Nic Cage - although I liked RAISING ARIZONA, THE ROCK was cool-but-cheesy, and GONE IN 60 SECONDS was good just for the car-lover porn

slodave 03-22-2008 07:42 PM

Glen Close.
Whoops, missed the part about politics. I just can't stand Glen Close.

KaptKaos 03-22-2008 09:08 PM

Sean Penn
Tim Robbins
Susan Sarandon
Tom Cruise
Barbra Streisand
Rob Reiner
Jane Fonda

I've been avoiding these actors for years. I don't go to a lot of movies to begin with, but I will not pay anything to see anything by these people if I can help it.

I do care about their politics. They are not my "enemy" but I see no point in helping someone I disagree with make a living.

EDIT: Almost forgot Ben Afleck, not only do I dislike his politics, but he's a terrible actor.

speeder 03-22-2008 09:23 PM

It's only a red state, dittohead thing to care about entertainers' politics. I've never heard anyone on the left say that they would not see a film because it has some Republican fukwad in it.

Because their opinions are not unique (are held by others as well)?

Never give any weight to the opinions of the lowest levels of society and used car salesman?

Oh yea, plus all of the above. Why should I support their delusions of grandeur.

Welll.....I have no idea why you should.

yaaawn.

Probably because such a thing doesn't exist!
