Here is a top of the line version for just over $100. For a really good showerhead its going to cost this much, but then its something that you keep and not leave with the house when moving on either...

grohe, nothing else for me

I noticed this Speakman at Lowes: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=25911-2192-S-2252AFBPLOWES

The Grohe looks good, I'll probably order one.

As Moses alluded to the head is only one component of the problem.

Earlier this year I went on a mission to fix my low pressure/low flow shower problem. The culprit was the Moen mixing valve (with temp sense). Actually look at the guts of these once and it will be clear, the orifices are TINY and are not massagable/reamable. So I started opening boxes in Lowes and looking at the different manufacturers valve designs and found the winner.....Price Pfister, hands down. You could drive a truck through those babies. Problem solved....it gets a four star Daddy recommendation.

If you really want low flow I can't help you.

We are redoing the master bath and I am seriously considering this shower head, if you have ever stayed in a Westin Hotel you know what I am talking about.

Hans Grohe Club Master. Not a Grohe. about $60-70. plenty of flow and thats pretty much what we install in clients' homes unless they spec out something else. If you need more, remove the restricter. My plumbing supply show room owner takes one with him when he travels.

We had one of these when my wife and I were in college. Her brother took a shower and didn't have enough snap to not crank up the water pressure. After the shower he remarked that he couldn't believe how much our shower hurt . :D

Lend,

Hans Grohe's temp controller is the one we always install. They have various float rates. They are design to flow enough water to power several shower heads at once. I have this set up . It will run 3 body jets and 2 shower heads at the same time, still rip your skin off. YOu must have enough pressure to do that to start with. 65 lbs is more then enough.

I received my Grohe showerhead yesterday just in time for my weekly shower. I'm very impressed, thanks PPOT :D

Seriously, but a $12 shower head at home depot and drill out the orifice a couple sizes bigger.

Oops, too late.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a few years ago and really liked the shower. Turned out they were available to buy, and I got one for each bathroom.

They were Kohler model " Shower Smart" and are om the HI Express website under " Hotel amenities".

They are great, she likes them.

Low-flow sucks. Just use a regular head and shower for a shorter time - put a timer in the shower if necessary (yes, I used to do this until I trained myself to be in, out and done in under 5 minutes) Same effect (same # of gallons used). And at least you get clean. The low-flow jobs I've had ALL required you to stand there (freezing, usually) in vain attempts to get wet enough to wash up.

what Jeff said

Just bought one like that. Installed it and it sucked. So, I drilled it. Well, the drilling ripped the restrictor out completely. Now a 40 gallon tank lasts a little over 5 minutes. I's getting something else.

Best,

Kurt

I have very weak water pressure in both of my upstairs showers. After reading this post, I purchased one of the "Speakman" shower heads from Lowe's. After replacing one, I was so impressed with the change that I purchased another for the kids' shower. You guys never cease to amaze me with your combined knowledge.

On another note, the bathtub/shower in my kids' restroom is very small. It has a shower curtain that seems to cramp the area. Over the weekend, we stayed in a Radisson Hotel and discovered a curved shower rod. http://csi.moen.com/newproducts/2005_curvedshowerrod.cfm

This is another great idea to make the most of the small area.

Thanks as always gents, David

They have them at the Great Indoors. There's one in Burbank. What, you don't like the shower curtain grabbing your ass as you take a shower?

Rot 911 05-29-2008 05:50 AM

Even Lowes and Home Depot sell the curved shower rods.

daepp 05-29-2008 07:55 AM

I rndrd up buying two of the Speakmans as well - the whole family likes them.

cab83_750 09-18-2008 10:31 PM

Well, after much input, and my $220.00 water bill, I have decided to get rid of my 20+ year-old hi-flow shower head. And...........

This Speakman rocks!!!!!! :D:D

I am now a believer. I even installed 2 of them (or does that make 4 heads). And I have also decided to raise the shower head height by installing a taller S-shape pipe elevating the stream by over 11". Now I can actually stand "under" the water stream.

kstar 09-18-2008 10:34 PM

We should have done a Speakman group buy.

They do make a good shower head.
