CAn anyone reccomend a decent shower head
 

The ones available at our local DIY stores are garbage. Does anyone make a low flow head that worth the purchase?

There was a shower head called the Europa, its small and costs only $5. It gives a power washer effect with just a little pressure.

I've always liked Speakman shower heads and the "Anystream" is a nice model.

Low-flow sucks. Just use a regular head and shower for a shorter time - put a timer in the shower if necessary (yes, I used to do this until I trained myself to be in, out and done in under 5 minutes) Same effect (same # of gallons used). And at least you get clean. The low-flow jobs I've had ALL required you to stand there (freezing, usually) in vain attempts to get wet enough to wash up.

I have one of those "rain" shower heads. Awful. Like a cow pissing on a flat rock. I bored out the shower head with no improvement. I think the shower mixing valve is low flow. Gotta tear it out.

When I purchased my house in 1991, the low-flow heads were required. As soon as I moved in, the reinstallation of the old, dingy, yellow, high-flow heads was my first priority.

I have very very thick hair, and it would take me quadruple-time rinsing the shampoo and conditioner with those low-flow heads.

Interesting enough, there were 2 'new' low-flow heads that I recently read last week. I was going to buy one as a trial to conserve water. I need to save $$ to buy 87 octane :)

I don't like the sound of that.

We use the handheld kind with the adjustable heads. Work well. First thing to do is remove the little washer that makes it low flow. In the shower, I need power.

My grandparents had one that dated back to at least the early 60's and was still working perfectly up until the 90's when they sold their house (and this is on AWFUL Florida water). I've had them in three different houses and wouldn't use anything else. Built like a tank, fully adjustable, and won't clog. Highly recommended.

Roger that. At the risk of sounding like a pseudonym for a non-traditional sex act, I've been enjoying a "drilled Speakman" for 10+ years now. :D

There is usually a flow restrictor in the head that makes it low flow. Just find it and remove it. They are usually in the stem or in the ball joint. It is a plastic mesh basket.
No need to drill. Sometimes there are two but removing both will allow too much water to flow.

I can recommend getting head in the shower. :D

In many low-flow models you may find a small, rounded rubber washer at the entrance of the shower head that is the "restrictor" - remove this piece and you can greatly increase the flow.

In new construction I've sometimes found a button type rubber restrictor with three holes upstream of the shower head in the pipe - remove this for better flow.

For $160.00, it had better be a lot more than "a nice model"!!! Geeze, what's the thread count of your toilet paper??? :D
