The thieves in my neighborhood are informed
They stole my Valentine 1 but left the GPS. They must know how much the V1 costs vs the 3 y/o Garmin. Fuchers could've taken everything else and left the V1 alone and I would've been cool with it. Not having my radar detector anymore sucks big time. Now I'm out $400 and feel vulnerable. Better start driving at or near the speed limit until I replace the V1. Fuchin' thieves!

That's a bugger. I hate it when that happens. How did they get in? How much damage to the car?
A friend of mine used to drive an old VW -- not the shiny well-restored old VW, we're talkin' the old rusty kind. The radio, btw, matched the rest of the car, a real POS. Some idiot broke the window to steal the radio, which couldn't have been worth the cost of the spark plug that the guy used to break the window with. Who does this sort of thing? In any event, my friend starting putting a sign in the window when he left his car: "If you're going to steal the radio, please just the whole car." Thieves....

Usually costs more to fix the car than it does to replace whatever they steal. I had an F150 broken into years ago and the Pioneer CD head unit stolen. I swear to God, it looked like they used a prybar to remove the HU, and then cut the wires with a butter knife. With the proper tools, they could have had it out in under a minute. Morons........

My wife thinks she may have forgotten to lock the car. No damage from forced entry at all. It'll be cheaper to just buy another V1 than get mad at her.

Recently had my office broken into and about $200 of petty cash taken. The cost to replace the door is $1500.

Years ago, when my wife & were first married (around 1983), we lived in a large apartment complex. I had an '82 Mazda RX-7 GS, & I got in the habit if leaving my Escort radar detector in the car while parked in the parking lot overnight. It worked fine...for several months.
Then one morning as I was walking to my car to go to work, I noticed a window "open". At first I thought I had left the window open, but I quickly realized that someone had smashed the window & taken my Escort. They had taken a concrete "roadside marker" (not sure what to call it, a concrete half-ball with rebar sticking out that goes into the ground) & thrown it through the window. It cracked/scratched several interior pieces & "jammed" the shifter -- the shifter was at a weird angle & would not move at all. Bottom line, the jerk caused $400 damage to my interior, plus the cost of the Escort. About a week later I got a call from the police. They had raided the apartment of some guy who was suspected of several break-ins. They found lots of TVs, stereos, etc., & my Escort! However, they asked if they could keep it as evidence to help convict the guy. I said yes -- I wanted him to go to jail. 6 months later I got my undamaged Escort back.

Good justification for the death penalty IMHO. Catch them once red-handed...and never have to worry about them again.

Report the theft to Valentine...they register serial numbers. If anyone calls for service or even new suction cups, you will be notified...

WTF is wrong with people? At least there is no damage to your car...a small consolation, but consolation nonetheless. Definitely having second thoughts about leaving my bow in the car.

That is good advice. If you read my previous post about the theft of my Escort years ago, I didn't notify Cincinatti Microwave that my Escort was stolen. However, when the police recovered it they found me by contacting Cincinnati Microwave, which had record of my purchase.
