Exclamation Need your opinion on this...ebay help

I recently sold a soccer shirt on ebay, and the guy who bought it is asking to return it because it doesn't fit him. Since I didn't respond the first time he asked, he is now threatening to leave me negative feedback if he doesn't hear from me.

I did not specify a return policy in the auction description, but I clearly stated the size of the shirt, and I feel that it is his responsibility to determine whether the shirt will fit before bidding on it.

What do you all think I should do? I'm not an experienced ebay seller, and I really don't want to get a negative feedback just cos this guy's pissed off that he can't return the shirt.

Should I let him return it, or not?

Meant to add, this guy has been a jerk from day one, as soon as he paid for it, he immediately emailed twice asking when it would get there. Since I hadn't mailed it yet, I did not know. I told him I would find out, and the next day emailed him telling him it should be there by the end of the week. So he emails me back 3 days later and says it hasn't gotten there.

then, yesterday, he emails me saying he got the shirt but it didn't fit and could he return it, adding that he would pay for shipping. Now, he's threatening to leave me negative feedback if I don't take the shirt back.

This is his exact message to me a few hours ago: hi is still me and this is the last warning before i leave a negative fedback on you can i return khan shirt i will pay the shiping thank you,,,,,,,,,,

If he bought a Large sized shirt and needs an XXXXXXXL shirt, that's his problem...

Clearly stated in the auction? Responsibility's on him...

IMO.

Paste this in your browser.

http://reviews.ebay.com/PAYPAL-DISPUTES-RETURN-AN-EBAY-ITEM-OR-NOT-RECEIVED_W0QQugidZ10000000002187516

You can tell him you do not normally accept returns, but will take the shirt back out of kindness. He will need to pay the postage both ways and any ebay or paypal fees. He could also just sell the item himself.

Sometimes someone is bound to give poor feedback and there is nothing you can do about it, except return the negative feedback and put a comment on your negative feedback explaining the situation for other buyers to see. This could lead to mutually withdrawn feed back as well.

Tell him to pound rock salt! I have been selling on ebay for 10 years now. Feedback means nothing. Hell I had someone leave me negative feedback, because I didn't leave them any feedback! And now I don't even think buyers can leave negative feedback anymore. You gave the guy the size, it is his screw up, not yours.

I've never sold on ebay and have a handful of purchases over the years and I've received one negative feedback so I wouldn't worry too much about that aspect. I ran accross an ebay scammer who attempted to sell me a "butchered up amp" (I examined the inside of it after it began "sparking like 4th of July" a few hours after plugging it in. That wasn't all of it...he had "bandaided" it together (power switch didn't work...constantly on), and he advertised it as perfect. After agreeing to refund me, he began jerking me around, so I left him negative feedback (knowing I WAS going to get my money back one way or another, and did so) and he reciprocated...what are ya gonna do? If you have a solid ebay track record, I wouldn't worry about a negative feedback, explain your side and most reasonable folks will understand. This scammer (I've watched him ever since) has hundreds of "positive feedbacks", but I'm pretty sure they're doctored through some type of buddy system...he was a real piece of....err work

I think it's sellers that cannot leave negative feedback, buyers can still leave negative feedback.

Have him send the shirt back. When you receive it, and if it is in the same condition as when you sent it, refund his money minus shipping.

Re-list the shirt with a clear return policy.

That's what I would do whether the guy was being an a-hole or not.

Best,

If you do take it back make sure he sends it insured or with a proof of delivery, I have a feeling you are not going to get it back.

Good point. Have him add "Delivery Confirmation" if shipping USPS.

If you don't receive it, don't refund the money and take the negative feedback . . . and move on.

Good Luck!

Yes, I listed it as a boys/youth xl, NOT adults. I even listed the chest size too.

I actually can laugh about the whole thing since he can't even spell or type correctly, so his feedback looks more silly than bad...

of course, this is what he said in his last message to me:

'i was not treating you f... you very much bye i will newer do biznes with you '

which I can only assume means 'i was not threatening you, etc.'

what a loser/timewaster.
