Nick and POP, you guys need to move back to real America and stop paying your taxes to the criminal states that ban guns. You can own anything in AZ. I doubt the SCOTUS ruling on the DC gun ban is gonna make a lick of difference in states that have some mechanism, albeit very difficult and restrictive, to own handguns.

I wish I could. Seriously. The biggest thing keeping me in CA right now is my wife loves her job (Disney) and there aren't too many opportunities for advancement with that company unless one lives here. So we're stuck for the foreseeable future. *sigh* The things you do for love. . .

before the mods. It now has a 4x22 optical scope mounted, and a M203 :Dlauncher. It remains unfired, in its case. Tony.SmileWavy

Tim,
Thanks! I'll buy a few boxes of various types of 5.56mm and see what the AR-15 likes. I'm just target shooting and I want to find the cheapest ball-ammo I can. I ALWAYS clean my weapon the same day it's fired, so using "dirty" ammo doesn't bother me.

"Dirty Ammo"

Be careful with the "cheap dirty ammo". These manufactuers tend to use old surplus power which tends to be corrosive. The majority of the bore erosions occur during the firing of the cartridge. The newer powders are much easier on the bore. Never use the import stuff, especially ammo from china or old russian republic. The bullits often have poor quaility jackets and leave lots of copper in the proximal bore. The best less expensive ammo is Black Hills remanufactered 223. I have used this extensively, even in competition NRA High Power Matches when my own reloads were not available. It is very high quality.

I have read that the AR15's are typically much more tolerant/indifferent to "dirty ammo". I wouldn't want to risk damage to a "match" rifle, but a lot of guys seem to have no issues shooting 1000's of rounds of Wolf thru their AR's.
