My new AR-15
I just bought this AR-15 yesterday at my local gun shop/range. I have wanted one of these since 1983. I have a lot of experience with the M16A1 and M16A2 from my 9 years in the military and now I have one I can shoot at the local range. It's as close to stock as possible (except the aftermarket scope) and it's a 5.56mm, so it can shoot bot the 5.56mm and the .223 cartridge. I need to get more magazines and a sling, but it came with a soft-side case and 1 magazine. It's used and I got a great deal on this! Nothing fancy, just the rifle I've always wanted...

Nice!
Who makes that one? I'm probably going to pick up a Bushmaster in August or so... |
nice Art! Another Colt man!

Congrats Art! Welcome to the world of AR ownership!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/ar15.gif :D

Nice Art! Next time you head down to Tab's give me a buzz and we can do some shooting at my place on your way back home.

Congrats on the AR but I hate A2s with their fixed carry handles. The fixed carry handle puts the optics way to high for me.

Very cool, Art; have fun with that. I love shooting .223's; it's a very fun little round. The AR15 platform takes a virtually recoiless round and makes it even more so.

And this is good for......? what again...........;-)

Hey Legion if you had looked at the picture there is a picture of a horsey on the Ar in question...LOL!
I got one of thoses, it called a Colt Tactical Carbine...if I were to get another one and I'm not...I would buy a Knights SR 15....those are da bomb. |

Congrats Art! Not quite my cup a tea as I am a M1A man, but as the price of .308 continues to go through the roof, the AR-15 is starting to look like a viable option to affordably keep my shooting skills up... I thought I was being smart when I purchased a Mini 30 and configured it to be just like my M1A so I could cheaply practice shooting.... yeah even the 7.62x39 has quatripled in price.... Good luck with it and I hope you have fun out on the range. My next great Idea may be to purchase a 10-22 with bull barrel and put ar-15 sights on it so that I can still use peep sights to practice, but I know my as my luck would have it the day I do so the $10. brick of .22 will jump to $120. a brick....:(

Here's mine last weekend.

Thanks guys! Yep, the sight is a little too high for me and I'll most likely remove it, but I'll try it at the range first before I remove it. I've had 9 years experience with the M16A1 and A2 (Navy Corpsman attached to the USMC) and I've always wanted one of these for "sentimental reasons". I go to the range like other people go bowling (Smokey, you're over the line!) and we make it a family thing and I take my son (16yrs old) and my father (71 years old, retired LEO) and my Brother-in-law. I may have to learn how to reload with the current prices of ammo. Anyone know of good, inexpensive ammo?

Yeah, I saw the rifle this weekend, It's very nice!!!!

I HAD a nice Bushmaster...then they outlawed them in NJ so i had to give it to my brother in WV...pisses me off to this day

Very cool! Only reason I haven't bought one yet is because I'm waiting for the SCOTUS ruling on local/state restrictions on the 2nd Amendment. Currently in Kommie-fornia, you can only get an AR-15 with a permanent 10-round magazine (which is idiotic). I'm hoping that this restriction (and others) get overturned - if so, I'll be buying one the next day. . .
If not, there's always the 1911. :) |
