Our area is very nice, adjacent areas are some of the nicest in Wichita, with huge multi-million dollar homes. Drive a few miles W, and you're into one of the worst areas in town. The Wal Mart nearest to my home is also the nearest to the ghetto. We shop at Target.:D

Seriously though, it can be a bit scary. I'd never let my wife go at night, despite the old lady driving the Chevy Aveo around the lot with a yellow blinking light and the "Security" sticker.:rolleyes: Otherwise you get the usual joys: packed isles, people with no shoes, crowds of Mexicans speaking spanish, long lines, and no customer service. About the only reason I go is for auto stuff, like the cheap 5 qt bottles of Mobil 1. The next closest store is further from the ghetto, and much better (but still not nice).

About 7 years ago in the areas only Wal-Mart the next town North. I am standing in the checkout line with wife and kid and the couple behind us is arguing somewhat quietly, I paid no mind other than they seemed to be disagreeing and it was going downhill fast. Suddenly the guy says very loudly "Shut the F*ck up, B!tch or I will punch you in the face" my immediate reaction was to spin around and I just looked at him. I was half expecting everyone around me to get my back on this one, and I looked around and everyone was ignoring the situation.

I looked at my wife who was screaming at me with her eyes "NO!!" then I looked back at Mr. Tough guy who was now looking at me waiting for me to say something, I just turned back around.

My wife and I discussed this at length, if I had done anything at all, his wife g/f whatever she was, would get it worse at home later. She is the fool to stay with a jerk like that and there is nothing I could have done that night in a Wal-Mart to solve her problems. If anything, just make them worse for her.

It was a good five years after that little scene before I would step foot in one again.
